Unlikely given the length of that animation. I could see Man of the Year having been upscaled though.

I don't think this'll happen this is just a joke.

But imagine how funny it will be if they bypass the music problems by just removing Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base from the game.

So far this looks like the successor to Jam/Mega Collection I've waited near decades for; the whole package looks beautiful and it's clear Sega gave a darn about it. Sonic CD has its vocals back! And it's only a few weeks from release, I am so ready.

Lmao I had that same thought recently, the amount of backlash would be absolutely unimaginable. Especially with no disclaimer or anything

If that did happen they could replace them with reimagined versions of Azure Lake, Chrome Gadget & Endless Mine :V

I definitely think Sega themselves are the only ones who can release it stateside now

i remember a while back one of the Discotek guys said General Entertainment going under made licensing the distribution rights incredibly messy, but Sega would still have those rights themselves right?

Also, I don’t particularly mind black bars; media not in its intended aspect ratio borders on unwatchable to me, but I do feel like there’s a missed opportunity here to put a border around the CD opening, at least when played at the beginning of the game proper

Something styled like the one around the compressed-to-oblivion SegaCD version would have been cool

Since the Story Mode cutscenes seem to be integrating themes from the relevant games into their soundtrack, am I alone in hoping the new Sonic CD intro continues what Mania Adventures started and adapts Collision Chaos' BGM as a leitmotif for Amy? Especially as the web series is included in the museum, it'd be a nice bit of consistency between the two.

Would also love to see a similar thing done for Tails with a Sonic 2 theme - either Emerald Hill 2P or a more upbeat adaptation of the Sky Chase theme would be solid picks for him IMO.

One of the cutscene thumbnails showed Tarot Cards (I assume is the story mode intro for CD). Makes me hope they are full of little references for us to spot.

Bit unrelated, but speaking of the cutscenes:

I've seen that second one before! One time I found these small mystery poster tubes, and they had a bunch of different art pieces you could've gotten. That design was one of them. They had different kinds but I chose 2 Sonic (all the designs were Classic Sonic based) and 2 Dragon Ball.
I wasn't able to track down the specific manufacturer back then and I've heard nothing about them from anybody else online. But they definitely were a thing.
I actually managed to find the manufacturer - but they don't seem to sell the posters anymore. Here's an archive of when they still did as compensation.

I wouldn't think SEGA would have any particular rights to the OVA just on the grounds of it being Sonic, but if they did stamp out the rights and have managed to remaster the OVA then this would be the best rerelease method outside of just putting it on YouTube themselves. It's at least a little interesting that the company that owns the rights on the Japanese side suddenly got protective and removed it from YouTube recently. I'm not gonna hold my breath over it, though.

Since everyone is trying to guess the contents of the museum, here is another one: the tracks from the Sonic 3D Blast demo tape (the ones released by Jon Burton on Youtube).

Personally it's stupid but let's not forget SEGA's obsession with reusing the Sonic 3 theme...remember the 1UP music for Sonic 4 and Mania? Both games had themes which could have easily had 1UPs made out of them.

Should have just used S3K's music altogether but nothing says they couldn't have the Sonic 3 themes as an option setting. Or, you know, having S3 and S&K alone as playable options.

It's just odd, but clearly it won't be the biggest thing about the soundtrack. The fact they're still avoiding the subject makes it obvious what's happening and they don't want people getting pissed off about it.

And this comes from someone who has no issue with them using the prototype music as I see it as the only reason S3&K even got to get added to Origins, and maybe the Mega Drive Mini 2 if M2 hacks them in.

Honestly, I pre-ordered this game on my PS5, and I do want to get it on all the major platforms, but that PC port with Denuvo is really making it hard for me to want to pre-order it on Steam. I don't understand the reasoning for it either. It's like they learned nothing with Mania, or the other 2 games with it, but I'm singling out Mania since that's also a Retro Engine game that had Denuvo. Just super dumb. Very hard pill to swallow and it might come down to the wire if I pre-order it on PC or wait for Denuvo to get removed. Am I thinking about this too much?

Denuvo didn't stop Mania modding due to how it's designed, and the only Denuvo issues I remember having was Resident Evil Village's weird "game has brief pauses when enemies die" issue on the PC version last year.

It's all about the implementation and the game's own way of handling it. Most games aren't problematic with Denuvo, but somehow some people got stutters with Mania while others didn't, and some people never see an issue while others do.

Yes. Sega Europe puts Denuvo on almost everything. Look at Sega's put out on Steam and see for yourself.

Project DIVA just came to PC and it has Denuvo too.

I didn't even pick up Sonic Mania until a year after Denuvo had been removed but I do recall users on this forum having some issues with the DRM with their computers running a bit hotter and louder than what a game of the type would typically do. Denuvo is a waste of energy. Executives are going to demand whatever keeps their shareholders happy even if it's against the wishes of their customers and employees. Some executives are quite good at destroying their own companies.

My copy of Mania stuttered on launch, it was indeed a rare occurance, but it happened.

Don't support it if you don't like it. That's my take.

It's clear that Sega doesn't give a shit about their catalogue, considering their wish to delist the og games from Steam. One day Denuvo might shutdown, just like some of it's predecessors, and legit paying costumers will have to resort to dubious ways to run what they payed for.

Sega removing Denuvo from their games is rare occurance so don't take it for certain.

Shareholders also lose with this too. They are basically beeing tricked. It's money wasted on something that doesn't work more that it does.
