The Q and A format was the way he wanted to do it at the time.

I never get tired of Sonic 3 music theories :words:

But what can I say that we don't already know?

Fact 1: Milpo is forever gone from the world of Internet, all he left behind was the fact that he made the Special Stage music for Sonic 3.

Fact 2: Jun Senoue refuses to say anything from Sonic 3 and Sonic 3D Blast, other than he made All the Bonus Stages music for Sonic 3. (We all know he made the Act Clear music as well)

Fact 3: Howard Drossin got only one music into Sonic 3, and it was one of his best by my opinion, the Continue music. It was replaced in Sonic & Knuckles by a slower tempo one.

Fact 4: Masaru Setsumaru arranged all of Howard Drossin music for Sonic & Knuckles. It doesn't say anywhere that Masaru Setsumaru arranged all the music for Sonic 3.

Fact 5: The music for Desert Palace and Chrome Gadget were definitely composed by the same composer. Both music use the same little theme in the end of them, multiple times.

Fact 6: Tatsuyuki Maeda skilled PSG arrangements can't be found in any Sonic 3 music. His style which appear in all his music in Sonic 3D Blast and also in other games can't be found at all!

Fact 7: Tomonori Sawada is the only one credited in Sonic Gems Collection as music composer that also is credited in Sonic 3. The music found in Sonic Gems Collection is Sonic 3 MegaD Mix (http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_Gems_Collection_OST). The music is Data Select.

    Now to the guessing:
Guess 1: Bo is such a skilled arranger, already worked on Michael Jackson's Moonwalker as Sound Advice. Why not be the arranger to all those MJ themed music in Sonic 3? It is definitely not Masaru Setsumaru style, and someone had to program the music for the Genesis... I am pretty sure Brad Buxer & Bobby Broken only sent music on tape or something.

Guess 2: Everytime the music for Balloon Park is played, I hear Jun Senoue usual rising happy tones. Who else could have done that music? But since Jun Senoue doesn't want to talk, we'll never know. And I guess he must actually hear the music before he can remeber it. He didn't remember doing Act Clear music even though he used it for Sonic Adventure and Sonic 3D Blast.

Guess 3: Some music were so poorly done, I am wondering how they even got into an original Sonic game in the first place. Endless Mine is just a badly converted MIDI file, not even the PSG is used. Mushroom Hill is also cheap (very little PSG usage). And let's not forget Marble Garden which is just plane bad (it brings down the level gameplay, doesn't it?).
Yes, none of them are bad composed, but if I got credited as an arranger for any of them I would probably never tell you about it! There is no excuse such as "Masaru Setsumaru had a bad day at work" to cover up for how cheap they were arranged!

That's all I can come up with for now. The rest of the Sega Sound Team are people you cannot find anywhere, and if you do they are like credited for music as 4th person or something so you can't compare their "style" against Sonic 3's music.

And never forget, all the music for the Sonic & Knuckles levels can be played in Sonic 3's sound test, even the S&K middle boss theme.

    In my opinion:

The same guy (might've been Jun, who knows) could've done the Gumball Bonus Stage music as well as the Slot Machine Bonus Stage, since near the end of both the songs, they actually sound similar to each other. I'll probably make a comparison mp3 later since I'm getting bored from downloading all this lossless music.

I strongly think that Brad Buxer did the Sonic 3 Mini Boss and Knuckles theme, because they both use samples from later Brad Buxer drum programmed music (ie Blood on the Dance Floor). Also, The Mini Boss music for Sonic 3 actually has a part from "It Takes 2" (DJ Rob Base song), and introduces that classic "Hey, hoo" sample (even though it's not the same one) that James Brown does, which is also sampled in "It Takes 2".

The other people though, I haven't got a clue. I thought Jun said the only music he did was the Special Stage and Gumball Bonus Stage, but you know, music could've been moved around at any point during development. Who knows. :\

    Wow, I am a newb.

I thought Jun senoue did all the Sonic 3 music until some months ago, now I feel like an idiot. :(

It is very interesting trying to figure out whose is whose, though, but I must say, I love all the apparent Drossin tracks. Also love Metal Sonic from Virtual Sonic, but that's because I'm weird.

I didn't know about these, where did you get that info, if I may ask?
