Normally I don't like posting topics like this, but I just got inspiration from listening to a few soundtracks that came from Sega CD games. But I never knew that there existed some really kick ass soundtracks for Sega CD games, besides Sonic CD. For example, check out this awesome soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/v/Y9liRfNw5zE This game has it's entire Redbook audio consist of orchestra tracks with some guitar and synth on the side, but all 11 tracks are using a real orchestra. I'm not much for strategy games (especially those on a 16bit console), but this definately made me want to play it just now. It helps set up the mood of the game so much, that it really does make you want to play it for more than 3 minutes at least. The voice acting/cutscenes aren't bad either, can't say the same for the PCM audio though... Surprisingly, no one knows who was on the Dark Wizard sound team. Masaru Setsumaru is rumored to have contributed some stuff and Jun Senoue did anything with a guitar in it (his first track that you can hear on the title screen sounds like the Terminator theme for a split second, kicks ass) with Toji Akasaka arranging the orchestra tracks for the sound team. Besides the designer and Toji/Jun, no one knows who had a hand in the game overall. So with that being said, what are your favorite Sega CD soundtracks?
Here is music from a pretty great, yet underappreciated SCD game. Also Dark Wizard has great music, even though you really don't get to appreciate it that much ingame.
The Terminator (sort of already mentioned, but still really, really awesome). This still makes me tingle, in spite of the cheese.
That's quite a toughie! My vote is for Collision Chaos Past (JP/EU) in Sonic CD My reason for this is that song has such a groove to it! Listen to it with earphones and you realise how great this song is with a 60's vibe with a hint of late 80's/early 90's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rmLJJwYsEs
I love you this soundtrack also, watching the recently submitted TAS reminded me not too long ago. Shame the run ran through the levels so fast that the music couldn't keep up, heh. Shame the game was rather difficult (Or that I just suck, probably the latter).
Sonic CD's tracks kick major ass in both the US and JAP version. I love them. Hell, I like them so much I got in trouble for listening to them at school, but I played it in the office, and they let me get away :P
Quite, this game had some amazing tracks: + - And if anyone knows why I picked THIS specific track to embed, you're Terribly Great. =P
