I'm with you on the perspective issue, I haven't changed the wings at all since my original version. I want to wait until I know for sure which style of wing will be used. Will this work for you? It's obviously not in proportion, but it lets you see what the wing looks like against the background.
Sorry, I was running out the door when I posted that. In my defense, LOst said any resolution . Anyway, reposted at the correct size. I put a few in there so you can compare. Also here he is with transparency if you want to play around.
Looks nice, but the grainy aspect on the wings don't looks nice to me, the body spotlight is completely covered by it. Remove the grains and keep it transparent clean, perhaps?
Oh, I will definitely be making it smooth, I was just using this as an example. I just took the rainbowy image subsubstantive posted and pasted it right in there and made it a little transparent. Like I said, quick and dirty, just to get a feel for the different types. If you think that look is the way to go, I can start working more in depth on the wings.
In principle I like the idea of providing a rainbow tinge to the wings, but I think it'll look too organic and contrast too sharply with the mechanical nature of the beast.
If you want to have a try, make it full transparent plus a very subtle rainbow layer. Otherwise, I'd recommend to fall back to this:
I fixed the wings up a bit, made the rainbow more subtle, and removed the bottom rim of the wing so you can see the rest of the body better. I think it turned out nicely.
It's a lot better. I still think that the other wing should be on top of the body as it doesn't look right as it is. Are you going to animate the wings?
Yep, as a matter of fact I was just working on animating the wings now. First, here's it with the right wing in front. and animated: EDIT: Also, I will be pretty conservative on my posts from now on, until I become a full member
Wings are looking very nice! On the contrary, the animation looks weird! Try following these quick guides: And one last shading (& contrast) adjustment to the yellow part:
I just realized, that this is in the wrong topic. There is a board called Baniks and Bosses Art. I remembered it when I was trying to find the art done for the Grounder, I could have put it in my mockup. Again, I really wish this stuff would be more organized so I didn't need to dig through 20 pages to find it. I wish you would update the first page with all the badnik artwork sectioned off by zones. EVEN if it is unapproved or unfinished. There is so much awesome artwork that I forget even exists because its lost somewhere in the 100s of pages.
Wanted to see it at a faster frame rate. Maybe it would be better if the rainbow effect was put over top of the two moving wings, so as not to move with the wings... if that makes sense? Also, what about using a mesh metal for the wings, rather than a film? The veins can stay. A link to a few styles... http://www.great-wy.com/eng/Images/Product...Metal-Mesh2.png
I think that the rainbow effect idea is great. I was trying to think how to make it look better, and that is it. As for the mesh, I will try some of those out, but I am really liking how they look right now. We'll see
