I was referring to his brow line. It looks to me it's supposed to cusp in the original, rather than curve. E: And his fingertips should have a bit of a "bulb" at the ends, look at the ends (like in the Unleashed model). That, or they're tilted more towards the viewer.

Rather than go "Well, Sonic is obviously tilting his head at the player" and drawing it with that in you mindset, you just traced over the old art and called it a day and got an abomination. You didn't even do a good job of upscaling in the first place either, it looks completely off. Really, a lot of the artwork here needs interpretation, not just trying to apply a human filter over it and claim it looks nice like you've all been doing. The only time I've seen this done is on the EHZ bush.
Am I the only one here that thinks the Sonic 2 signpost was the best ever, and that Sonic 1's looked just awful? Either way, you know that literal interpretation wouldn't be too bad if you just moved the nose and moved the eye a little If anything on this signpost is the worst it would be the fact that Sonic has only 2 spikes.
As stated above, while that one can be certainly improved, I didn't waste any precious hours on adjusting something I'd end up seeing as an abomination in first place. About the process of the interpretation I use, it's divided into 3 "meters" which needs to find its correct balance: -The Original Art Idea (Hinted from pixels by drawing shapes that purists will like and newbies as well) -HD Quality added details (Mostly taken from Artworks, which gives a proper HD feeling without distorting the original concept) -The Sonic I have on my heart (which is different for everyone, yet it seems to be generally liked) It's not an easy task repeating this for every new remastering to do. Despite overstimated compliments on my workings, I do not define myself as an "artist" as I've no artistic professional formation. I'm just a stubborn hard worker with an infinite love for Sonic and this project. I really love everyone opinion, but at the same time please do understand that the boat needs to be kept at full speed, so please post your own revisions / corrections in a visual way, so I can test those out and in case I find them significantly better they'll surely have their place! ^^ *working on the latest fixes*

As I said before, I think the outline of Sonic's eye area is supposed to cusp. The way it is now he looks sort of angry, like this: I think his eyes are supposed to be open wider, like in these pictures: as for Eggman, I recommend taking inspiration from the way his mustache looked in Sonic Unleashed. The current one has very little detail in it.

Mainly because of the stark contrast between the lighter and darker reds. Could you try softening it a little? (Though FWIW, I think #1 is good in terms of staying true to the original, but #2 looks better because it seems more natural in the way the light hits the shirt/fat rolls, if that makes sense [been drinking =P])
Hmm, I think his head looks quite better in #2 (perhaps it could be improved if there weren't vertical lines in his grin, just shades at the sides), but the first body (cape and shading) looks better in #1. Both yellow thingies should be separated from each other.
Vincent, I know about the whole pixel limitations and what not in the original art, but for some reason tails' head seems too... bulbish? if that's the word. That and the eyes look rather odd compared to the original. One last little gripe, I'd like to see him with just a grin, and not a :D type smile, since you took some liberties from the original picture.
Looking nice, but the forehead looks a bit too big... and I don't really like the mouth, sorry. I think it should stay closed.
-General shape fixes apart, I love them both now! Say yours! EDIT: Forgot to post last revision merging both EGGman's versions.
This is a tough one. But I'm going to go with the closed mouth one. Also Robotnik's mouth should be a bit smaller I think. I hope in game Tails looks this good.
