    I know new frames are on the backburner compared to everything else for the project, but effects like these flames really seem like they should be prime candidates for smoother animation. They were never the best looking sprites to begin with, and at such high detail I'm reminded more of those fake plastic candles with lightbulbs inside than of real fire.

    Improving greatly since last update! ;)

    Refer to this for details:

    -Especially the azure reflection of his eyes, and the narrower pupils.
    -The spotlight on his belly and the shape of that white thing, which is more curved
    -The pointed knuckles coming out of hands

    I'll add more detailed suggestions as its getting near-complete status! :)

    And you're right here, FX must be looking Smooth.

    BUT as to keep the whole game animations frame consistency, we have this formula:

    Required HD Frames# = Original Frames#
    Improved HD Frames# = *2 Original Frames#


    In special cases, it may also be:
    Improved HD Frames# = *4 Original Frames#


    So, this animation can be 4 or even 8 frames finally.
    It's just up to the artist, however, to make a good 2 frames-basic flame done, than add more inbetween when the base is set.

    Ah-all right, 4 / 8 frames coming right up. I'm gonna work on the explosion for now though.

    Veej, change your color output profile. Vincent's Uber Sonic is discolored in you image maybe because of you exported it with CMYK compatibility.

    Im an Adobe Illustrator man! Using CS3 at the moment, getting CS4 next year, cant wait.

    What's the general software everyone uses?

    This won't be a problem.

    Follow the sprite art and keep the spotlight reflection's range to a minimum and it will do a perfect match for Sonic & Tails! ^^

    I'm not sure if anything needs to be changed in Knuckles' sprites. After all, they were supposedly a step above Sonic 2's... They might look more out of place if we change them, since we've been used to those since S&K was released.

    The current sprite needs more shading and outlines to fit properly, though.
