Why you can't play as Sonic with Knuckles

Well, if you would want to replace Tails with Knux, you'd have to reprogram them... Because Tails and Knux use different variables, they're programmed differently.

 

THis is a cool option from player select in Sonic 3 & Knuckles: :D

Sonic Alone
Tails Alone
Knuckles Alone
Sonic and Tails
Sonic and Knuckles
Tails and Knuckles

Um...I can see the other pairings, but not Sonic Heroes mode.

It would be kind of useless, because there is no third controller slot, so you wouldn't be able to control the last character in the line.

Unless you implemeneted a switch character option, it would be useless.

 

But it would also make no sense, seeing as Knuckles is enemies with Sonic and Tails during Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. :P

It would be interesting to look into the rom and see if there was any code for a Knuckles follow. I always wanted that.

It would have been hard to implement, because Tails had the advantage of being able to fly back when offscreen.

As you can see, in Sonic Heroes it's silly enough, but in Sonic 3 it would have looked odd to have Knuckles gliding/apperance back the whole time.

 

Just play SA3 for gods sake -_-

I don't care who's playable as long as the game is fun, and Sonic & Knuckles is fun as it is.

 

I think that Sonic Team rembered that Knuckles wouldn't follow Sonic's orders so they skipped having Knuckles follow Sonic,also Sonic and Knuckles aren't frenids untill Sonic Adventure and even now they still are'nt best frenids

 

I remember some people at Cult brought up the Sonic Heroes Mode for S3K at one point. They were talking about porting some kind of code from the Genesis game "Animaniacs" in order to pull it off.
