    (Yes! I love doin this!! *shotshot*)

    Because DOS is removed from XP. Sonic CD, or most copies to say the least, use an extension of DOS called the DinoLibrary. Without DOS in XP, there is gonna be no way it'll run on an XP machine. Simple! =D

    What about this "retail version" that was made later? I actually have the Dino version, but I'd just like to know if you know anything about it...

    The DirectX version? It can run on any machine, considering it has DirectX, but is the rarer of the 2. I know that one of my friend's friends has it... but I sure don't! ^^;;

    (And, yes, I'm serious bout the friend's friend part. I was talkin to one of my friends and he commented on how his friend could get Sonic CD to run on XP =P)

    I believe I have the Direct X version. Want me to upload it?

    EDIT: I checked, and I do. All I need is someone to tell me how I can ISO it. The programs I know I have that could are Nero, Cd Maker 6 Pro, Winrar, and Winzip.

    On win 95, win 98, and win XP versions I cannot get SCD to run. It always comes up with missing dino2d.dll. This file seems to be rare because repeated attempts to find it online result in one find which costs $20. Any advice?

    Won't work. I tried this back when I first got the XP machine(towards the end of January of this year) several times, and it won't work. It requires DOS, which XP dun have.

    1. XP's "compatibility modes" are bullshit. They don't help.

    2. I did find dino2d.dll somewhere for download, but it just didn't work.

    The reason my Win95 runs slow is because I have, say, 111 mb left. And because my computer is a piece of ---- from '96.

    Oh, and I see that the reason you are here is because you don't have DOS on WinXP. Well, I have one thing to say to you: look in your Windows folder. I've used an XP computer, and the DOS prompt should be there (it was on every XP computer I've tried out. If not, go to Run and type command). Now, load Sonic CD using the DOS prompt. It *might* work. I'll have to try and get the DINO version - I'm not sure.

    The Sonic CD installation isn't even able to finish in Windows XP. I copied all the files in the SonicCD folder of the game installed on my win98 computer and fixed the paths in the configuration file (c:\windows\sonic.ini) to access the proper directory and CD drive (or disable the CD). Make a blank file called SONICCD.CHK (must be all caps and 0 bytes in size) in the main folder. Then, for the missing DLL files, they can be found in other folders or on the CD, just copy them into the main folder. I did this until there were no more missing dll files being reported. Then... ... ... The game gets so close to running and then the game immediately quits with an error, regardless of your compatibility mode and colors. I never heard of 2 versions of Sonic CD but this must be that "dino" version since that's one of those missing dll files I had to locate.

    It's not a real DOS prompt, though. Just because it's a command prompt doesn't mean that it is truely DOS, now does it? I mean, I can't access DOS-SHELL or anything similar on this machine.....

    Whilst, my machine from 1992 can. Explain that?

    Here
    Many Many Programming/hacking tools...
    It is a real dos shell, but it's based off the NT Dlls, definately not compatible with SCD.
