It's what's known in the trade as a ~mysterious~ box. a.k.a. I'm not sure, although Prima weren't just doing the classic game strategy guides by 1999, they also started doing press material. They do E3 exhibition guides which are given out at the door - might be something like that, but more Dreamcast orientated.
What a lovely mystery. Too much damn money for something that is apparently lighter than a strategy guide.
A boat's a boat, but the Mystery Box could be anything! It could even be a boat! I don't like the sound of that, a strategy guide isn't heavy in its own right, surely(?). And we're led to understand it's lighter? Maybe it's just posters and flyers, perhaps an old "freepost and we'll send you lots of goodies" card which would no longer be valid? It looks so shiny and promising though! Being practical here for a moment, is there any known benefit to having this besides; scans for the wiki, and solving a slight in-direct Dream Cast mystery?
I'm expecting based on the description that it's likely promotional art/posters and maybe a few token feelies like a badge/pin or small figure.
Is this the part where I break your heart, Doc Eggfan? This is a promo box that was given away to people who bought the Dreamacst at launch at Best Buy. It's got some forgettable Prima crap in it (I think some stickers, a small guidebook, type stuff.)
Prima's Dreamcast Launch Promo Pack This probably needs re-categorising, but there's something there to work with.
