Lol, I’m a big mint candy guy. I’m allergic to nuts and the only chocolates nowadays that don’t give the whole, “may contain nuts,” crap is After Eights and Andes. Except for Reese’s (I’m not allergic to peanuts), which are a bit expensive and uncommon in Denmark, I mostly stick to mint candy and chocolates myself. This has no relation. It’s 4:43am and I’m bored. Also just watched DBS Broly finally because it was on sale on Xbox. Not bad. I liked the parallel between Bulma’s and Frieza’s wishes lol.
The movies aren't good your standards are just that low. Bland, safe corporate product with a nicer Sonic model attached.
The movies are excellent and James Marsden deserves a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. To emphasize more how much I adore the films, I have a tradition of watching them on Christmas in honour of the island where Sonic was born.
As someone who liked both movies, yep. They're totally unremarkable, and yet they're watchable and inoffensive. They aren't amazing. They just work as very basic, often generic movies with generic tropes and they just so happen to be Sonic themed. They don't even stick close enough to the source material in any way for them to be called adaptations. I'm not going choose between a hole in left side of my head and a hold in the right side of my head. They're both bad and the end result is the same.
I'm sure you're not alone in liking him... but to add to the vitriol, he made Sonic X unwatchable for me aside from episodes where he was barely present if at all.
I remember not liking him as a kid. I was watching the show for Sonic so the Chris stories just didn’t appeal to me. I never felt the whole self-insert, “Oh, what if this was me and I was friends with Sonic,” aspect for which they were going. I’ll need to rewatch when the Japanese BluRay release comes out though to see what I think now. I don’t remember what I thought of Sera/Sara/Sarah, however we want to romanize it, when I was younger but I don’t mind her now. She essentially acts like Amy but the whole not being a hedgehog thing allows for that simping Eggman dynamic. I think it’s funny enough, but it’s typical anime crap where your tolerance for that will dictate your feelings. In conclusion: Anime catgirls > anime boys.
It's just the weird set up where we're supposed to connect with the kid who has everything going for him yet he feels fucking miserable unless Sonic is around. If it were executed differently maybe he would be received a lot more favorably.
I think most of this forum would sympathize with a guy who leaves behind all his family and friends to go chill with Sonic if the concept was executed even slightly better Dude was even married and did it all again! The mad lad!
If this isn't unpopular, forgive me because I am not active in a lot of Sonic circles as much as I used to. But I really enjoy the level design of most of '06 and think said zones serve a great prototype of what Sonic level design can look like when executed correctly.
I think this is probably on the cusp of being popular, but isn’t completely there yet. I think a large majority of fans, especially on Retro, will still automatically go, “(Something) about 06? Ew,” but we’re receiving so much content from influencers/creators who grew up with the game and are trying to change the perception around it. P-06 has also played a big part by allowing people to experience the levels without dealing with… the whole being 06 thing lol. For the record, I agree. I hadn’t really played the game between its immediate release and last year, but upon replaying it, I found that the level design was extremely close to my ideal version of a Sonic game. I am not super keen on the vehicles for Shadow and some of Silver’s stuff, but Sonic’s stages are pretty strong.
I personally think '06's level design still isn't good even considering things like the Generations 2006 Project and Sonic P-06. I think if anything, those projects highlight how even if the engine was stable and refined, the game's actual design remains mediocre at best. Everything about the level design feels so haphazard to me. There's no flow, it feels like it punishes you for going fast, the level gimmicks aren't really unique or particularly exciting, and the environments' construction feels weirdly... unnatural? compared to SA1 and SA2. Not to mention, the levels are way. Too. Fucking. LONG. They're all, like, 5-8 minutes on average, and some (especially the late-game stages, like Aquatic Base) can take you 10-15 minutes. TL;DR: Sonic '06 level design is like the designers for some reason thought Sky Deck was the best SA1 level and decided to base every level on it
Was Sky Deck THAT long? It's been like 2 years since I played Adventure that I actually forgot how that level was like.
