    Welp, this.
So, apparently there were plans for Dreamcast conversions of System Shock 2 and Thief II that never saw the light of day.

    UNTIL TODAY, THAT IS.

PSO Archive has put the beta versions of each game's port up for download, but apparently they are not in playable state right now.

Dude, System Shock 2? Why didn't any of the awesome ports get released on Dreamcast?

First the original Halo was planned, then Half Life completely finished and never sold, now System Shock 2?! The Dreamcast could have been even better then it already was.

Yeah, typo on Half Life 2. It's a shame Half Life wasn't actually published for the DC.

I don't think the first Halo was ever planned for DC.

It definitely was. I remember seeing it in the DC magazine.

So was GTA III and the first Max Payne, I even think several screen shots were featured in magazines. So even though these ports are up to download, can they be emulated at all? Just the builds are far too early to be playable or what?

Damn all those games? You guys are depressing me. Still even if the DC wasn't canned could it really have competed with PS2, XBox, and GCN. I mean wasn't way underpowered compared to them I don't think it could handle a lot of the multi-platform games.

The PS2 wasn't that much more powerful than the Dreamcast; although it was the runt of the litter, it still had power. The main problem was the use of GD-ROMs instead of DVDs; Dreamcast games had to fit on 1.2GB per disk, whereas 4.7GB was available for the other consoles. Also because of that, Dreamcasts couldn't be used as DVD players.

    wouldn't you like to know
    Guitar Hero II Deluxe
Gamecube games could only use 1.4GB per disc. Also, many earlier PS2 games came on the blue-colored CD media rather than DVDs.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
miniDVD is called that because it uses the same laser, not because it has the same storage capacity (it doesn't). It's pretty much the center of a DVD with the outside removed.

This is cool but also infuriating. Could SEGA have bungled the DC any worse at the end? FFS.
