Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore was announced for Switch in today's Nintendo Direct. It's an enhanced port if the original game (Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE) with added stuff. I assume it comes with whatever DLC the Wii U game had.
Literally the only Fire Emblem game I've never played, so I'm pretty interested. I does look a bit like generic idol stuff though, with very little of Persona or Fire Emblem. It's also gonna be weird playing a crossover game whiteout Fates of SoV stuff, since TMS came out before both these game.
Has more Persona than it has Fire Emblem. Wasn't it meant to be a collaboration between Atlus and some japanese music label? Anyway, good songs to blast while driving (I'm only half joking).
It's also on Wii U (remember Wolf Link Amiibo?). But Zelda, AGAIN? >_> Just a quick reminder that there are more games like Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE# that are practically lost if they're not getting ported over. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water was pretty good too.
I mean the Wii U version was censored too, if that's what you were getting at. I hope the Switch version is censor-free too, but from what I've heard it wasn't anything major? At least they didn't seem to butcher it like they did with Fates. edit: hum
From what I've been told, the JP fanbase thought Fates' plot was shit, too. Treehouse may have made some stupid changes but I don't really see the difference between two different kinds of shit.
That's a can of worm I'd rather not open since I argued about this endlessly since the game release. But tldr; plot was bad in Japanese, absolute shit in English. I'm just not a fan of the localisation team changing plot points and character personalities. Or flanderizing everyone in general. They really screwed it up.
Yeah, localization for this game was an absolute joke. I normally don't care too much about censoring stuff that's too "fan service-y" so long as it doesn't affect story elements, but wow, they really dropped the ball with #FE. It actually does impact certain elements of the game that it really shouldn't. The game was released at a time when the treehouse was REALLY buckling down on this stuff and the game kind of suffered as a result of it. It seems to be up in the air if the Switch version is uncensored. Some elements seem to be, but a portion of the trailer was, though that could just have been for the direct, no real way to know for now. Given how Xenoblade 2 and Three Houses were tastefully localized and how Nintendo basically gave porn games a thumbs up, I think the game will be fine. It's baffling how much has changed in only a few years.
And the Japanese fans aren't too happy about it. Shit, the Wii U version of the game even topped the Wii U charts on amazon jp right after the announcement that the Switch version would be censored. That's hilarious.
Anyone that cares so much about anime tiddies that they'd cancel their preorders will be happy to know that they will undoubtedly just be able to mod their Switch and run it with an uncensored patch. No big deal. I'm looking forward to trying this finally. I don't know if I'd play the whole thing but I wanna take it for a spin at least.
Oh yeahhhh, says whoever doesn't have a hackable Switch. Forgot they weren't all hackable yet, serves me right for posting before getting enough coffee in my system. :specialed:
