YMO - Behind the Mask Planet Sonata also Sortofffffff Sonic 3 Credits Interesting note: MJ actually made a mix of Behind the Mask thats about to be released on his post humorous album back in the early 80s.
Now, I was listening to the Sonic OSV Project a while back. I saved the entire OSV Project to my computer to examine the songs... Come 04 months later, I hear 02 tracks that resemble Collision Chaos Bad Future (Sonic CD EU/JP Looping Project copy), and Trial and Error (Knuckles Chaotix). I have the links to the songs below, for the compare and contrast between 02 other songs that were not made by Sega or Sonic Team at all. Your Mega Man Link is broken. And for convenience sake: Also, I'm sure there's a thread already about music similarities so I'll just merge this with that once I find it. Edit: Done
Starlight by Muse and Star Light Zone. Not only the names of the tracks are similar, I found that synth lines sound almost alike. Here's the percussion and bass line from Muse's Starlight mixed with Star Light Zone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiQBchZ_FGo
I'm not sure if they really sound that much alike, or if you just did a good job putting them together, but it's an interesting mix. Here's another soundalike: and (go to 0:28) Not only is it the same riff, there's a bit of the same general vibe, too.
INtro to Sonic Advance 3's Chaos Angel Zone Act 1 music Compare to Megaman X3 Blast Hornet Holy. Shit.
So, wait, who stole from whom? The release dates for both seem pretty dang close. EDIT: Did some more research on the subject. Shadow the Hedgehog was developed in San Francisco, USA, and got first released in the USA on November 15, 2005, and on December 15, 2005 in Japan. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X was developed in Osaka, Japan. and was first released in Japan on December 15, 2005, the same day as Shadow's Japanese release, and was later released in the US on January 31, 2006. Shifting the likelihood of thivery more on Capcom's side, but, who knows, maybe someone just leaked something and the other side decided to use it? Just speculation.
Hey, Capcom snatched up the death music from Castlevania as the music for Sigma's intro in the first MMX. And for that matter, does Zero's entrance music sound more like the intro to Don't Wait Until Night from Haunted Castle, or Mecha Green Hill Zone from Sonic Chaos?
I'm sure it's just a sample/loop from a sound library. By the way, check this out. http://www.synthmania.com/Korg%20Wavestati...%20Invasion.mp3 Sound familiar? I remember this being used during the Egg Carrier transformation sequence (one of them). Listen close: Korg Wavestation ftw. This 90s synth also has some recognizable sounds from the time. You should check this page out. Download/buy the VSTi if you're interested, because you can import the original RAM/ROM banks into it.
Bump, here's another music comparison that's identical. But unfortunately I can't find a YouTube video of the song. Listen to J. League Pro Striker 2's (Megadrive) Soundtest BGM track 83 and compare it to this: Yeah there's a reason why it sounds similar: According to MobyGames for Pro Striker 2: Code (Text): Music: Tatsuyuki Maeda Sound Effects: Tatsuyuki Maeda And guess who did Diamond Dust Act 1? Code (Text): 09 Diamond Dust Zone Act 1: Song by T.Maeda, Arrange by T.Maeda 0A Diamond Dust Zone Act 2: Song by T.Maeda, Arrange by T.Maeda Might record it if you're curious. They sound almost identical but Sonic 3D Blast sounds better.
I've been wondering about that for a few years now! Good on you for finding the credits out. :D The coolest part about that tidbit, I think, is that track 87 sounds pretty close to a Sonic 3D-era invincibility tune. It's for that very reason I put it in Sonic 2: Advanced Edit. I wonder why?
