I might have said this this before but it would be really nice if, when Sonic music is found to have samples taken from somewhere, or a musician has turned around and said "yes I copied xxx and yyy", it was written down on the wiki. I actually started a list once, but then we invented proper comparison pages. Except there are no comparisons (yet).

I know in some cases records are kept elsewhere, but spreading things around the internet is an anti-Retro stance - it's good to keep this noise together. Ditto Sega/NEC Retro.

As a non-musician, it can be hard to differentiate between "hey xxx is a genuine copy of yyy" and "they're both using a well established pattern".

I'd quite like to see a Sonic hack that uses the "original" music. Or idk, Scrap Brain that uses the same instruments as Duran Duran's Planet Earth, as a faux Mega-CD wacky version. For a laugh.

As someone who used to play in bands, I'd like to mention, that, even as a musician, more often than not, it can be hard to differentiate between what's an inspired, original idea for a song and plagiarism. It may not be in the sense of the wiki, but pointing out when two songs share the same riff, song structure or melody isn't only fun, but also sort of worthwhile in the sense that it has the potential to reveal whose thought processes have lead to samey results. It helps giving orientation, especially in the creative fields.

Windy Hill Zone 3: Careening Cavern from Sonic Lost World has distinct similarities to 2 different music tracks.

Many points throughout the Sonic Lost World track sound a lot like 0:00 to 0:05 and 0:07 to 0:12 of Angel Island Zone: Act 1 from Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

0:49 to 0:57 and 1:01 to 1:10 of the Sonic Lost World track sound a lot like many points throughout End of The World "Yellow" from Sonic The Hedgehog (2006).

Tomoya Ohtani is credited for both of the Sonic 2006 and Lost World tracks, so I lean towards these similarities being intentional, especially considering how similar the timing and instrumentation are too. As for the Sonic 3 track though, I'm not sure; it may be intentional, pure coincidence or subconscious inspiration.

I've not checked to see if this has been compared to (a lot of the links in previous pages are broken anyway), but 'Electricity' by the Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark has very Sonic 1 and 2 vibes to it (apart from the singing sections); especially from the 1:11 mark.

Weirdly enough the arpeggio reminds me of a similar arpeggio used here

0:06 to 0:30 of Redial from Bomberman Hero sounds a bit like a remix of Title Screen from Sonic 3D Blast: Flickies' Island (Saturn), and in general feels reminiscent of how the latter game uses its leitmotif throughout its soundtrack.

I can hear exactly what you mean with this one from memory alone now that you mention it. They're definitely reminiscent of each other, both in melody and instruments.
