This Song Sounds Like X

26 seconds into Knuckles' Chaotix's "Tube Panic".

 

I think many of you may be aware of this, but it was mind-blowing for me.

The Sonic Mania intro references Sonic 1 Credits Medley.

Are there any more subtle references in Mania OST? I'm a sucker for them!

 

This got me recently, the main bassline synth / bars for Girls Aloud - Biology (from about 0:33 onwards):


Sounds similar in structure to the bass / low synths in Grand Metropolis from Sonic Heroes:


Maybe I'm just seeing patterns in things that aren't really there but this struck me on one of my random playlists.

I listened to Janet Jackson's fifth album janet. yesterday (released in 1993), and I noticed that "What'll I Do" sounds awfully similar to Sonic '06's Soleanna Forest.

It's not a direct sample; there's an obvious difference in chord progression, but the instrumentation, sound and intro sound a little similar to me. What do y'all think?

 

Ever since i was a kid. I noticed how similar the Chemical Plant Zone Theme from Sonic 2 sounded like The Ghostbusters Theme at times. The Masa's Demo Version sounds even more like it. Anybody else notice?

 

Apparently a Drake song sampled the violin bit of his world as the beat, albeit distorted.
Pretty cool TBH.

As someone that listened to this album over and over throughout the years, I never noticed any similarities.
But I respect your tastes in music :p

but yeah… maybe I’m just crazy but starting at 17 seconds in from cd vs 2:35 of the other track posted above , it’s very short.

 

Still both really good songs in their own right
