Back to back, n' spinnin' on the back! Back to back, on the turntables' back! The beginning sounds exactly same.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8n32wVdZ48 Not exactly a music similarity, but more of "that's Sonic jump sound at 1:45". Kinda fitting considering how many carnival based levels there are in Sonic games.
Hate to burst your bubble, but it's just a simple square wave going up in pitch -- yeah, Sonic's jump sound is constructed this way, but it's merely a coincidence considering the style of music this is and how similar sounds are in many electronic music. It's a similar sound though, for sure :v:/> Made a quick comparison mp3. First is the original jump sound recorded from S3K, second is a remake to the best of my ability using a synthesizer and third is the common application of a square wave just going up in pitch.
This song sounds like it could have influenced the final boss song in Sonic 1. Note that this version on Youtube is in lower pitch than it's supposed to be for some reason.
Not Sonic related but it's one of those things that's bungled my mind... Urban Reign - Nowhere to Run 0:06 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOrjbp8Pmgs Stone Temple Pilots - Vasoline 0:27 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCFOlQxW220
Here's one I don't think anyone's pointed out, but it's entertained me. Not really Sonic related, but 2:40 in this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obkgJNnWcMA To: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhr5mncCQvQ
So there I was at McDonalds with my father and Dynamite Headdy music started playing. According to the 2nd video's comments I am not alone. Is this well known? Norwegian Wood: http://youtu.be/XtHkW97AJk8 Escape Hero: http://youtu.be/BFyvrobQAqY
I never heard of the game during the Genesis era and only heard that it was a cult classic in the early 2000s. Basically I'm more familiar wth The Beatles version as grew up listening to it because my dad is a fan. I do hear th similarities. The first part doesn't share the same notes, th the second part is dead on. Sounds like someone else likes it too. I've also played a pep band version of Norwegian Wood.
https://youtu.be/jDUJPSNtZ9Y?t=2s (Star Fox 2 - Surprise Attack) and https://youtu.be/wC39YadF1AQ?t=1s (Sonic & Knuckles Miniboss) sound quite similar, at least at the start.
It baffles me that nobody's caught this before, but Casino Night Zone (56s) takes a riff straight from Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". (1m5s) http://youtu.be/jl6kjAkVw_s http://youtu.be/zO6D_BAuYCI
Wow, that's crazy. I know a lot of Beatles songs, but Dynamite Headdy is not a game I've ever played. I've heard of it, I I've seen gameplay of it, but I've never played it.
More specifically, it's just a short walking bass run. I used something like that just last Sunday (albeit on piano). It's WAY too short and common to be particularly notable or interesting.
Burning Rangers - Undulatus http://youtu.be/5sleV0WN3eU Phantasy Star Online - You Have Nowhere To Go, and From seeing the rough wave http://youtu.be/TK6-APWVJN4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18Kb9-kbKJE Very similar. Both of these were composed by Fumie Kumatani.
Ok, maybe this is more interesting, and it's little harder to explain. The boss theme from Sonic CD (JP) sounds a stupid amount like Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk". I know it's a sample from a different song, but it makes me wonder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTXR0T5mJ68 (Starts at 0:39) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPf0YbXqDm0 (Starts at 1:06)
