He's really active at pso-world, so that might be your best bet. Anyways I never was able to hear half of the connections on that site. Anyways, during the Jacques SAGE Interview we had it confirmed that Sonic 3D Blast's Rusty Ruin Zone was indeed based conceptually on the Enigma song Sadeness Part 1.
I think this song sounds EXACTLY like a Sonic CD Good Future zone... Pacific StatePacific State It's pretty uncanny, every time I hear it I just wanna get out the ol' Sega CD and fire that fucker up!
Interesting—this song has the same chord progression as Hi-Tech Jazz, and it's similar to the Japanese Special Stage music as well. Ripoff, or popular style at the time?
The Jap version of Sonic CD's special zone always reminds me of 'Pacific State' by 808 State. Certain sounds in it remind me of that song.
Anyone ever notice the song "Freeze frame" sounds like the super sonic music in Sonic2? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDQWy1rUbaE at 0:51 to 0:56 it is noticable. or am I just crazy. Sonic2 music link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTf_n6bHFj4
I heard these two tracks a few years ago when I uncovered a copy of 'Dance Now 91'. It instantly reminded of Sonic CD. So many elements can be attributed to different tracks. Quadrophonia T99 It's probably just a general style from the early nineties, called hardcore or acid house, I do believe. EDIT:Links fixed.
Megaman Zero 2 - Awakening Will Sonic the Movie - South Island Theme The first part of Awakening Will sounds just like that song, without the lead. On a sidenote, the second part sounds a bit like His World. EDIT: Cinossu's version of it goes with it a bit better, in case you can't hear the similarity...
Some people say that Sonic 06's Town Mission 4 music sounds like Flash Man's music. I kind of hear it, but the massive difference in fidelity doesn't make it easy.
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but: Sonic 1 - Green Hill <-> Sonic 360 - Dream of an Absolution http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48yoBsNGxIE I can't play Megamix without singing "but you still control the past" >_<
Yeah, people keep saying that... it's a very faint similarity, and I had to think about it before I even made the connection. I think it goes without saying that the similarity was unintentional, though; that's why it annoys me when people go around asking LB if it was. Damn you, Sonic fanbase!
A coupla things I've been aware of for a while... this is a good time and place for sharing: Sonic Adventure 2 - Fly in the Freedom [Theme of Rouge] 3:32 to END - Dig the horn arrangement. Brand New Heavies - Dream on Dreamer [it's really only on this particular version, available on their Trunk Funk compilation] 2:00 to END - virtually the same horn arrangement. Also, this suspected source of inspiration: Sonic Adventure - Limestone Cave [Icecap] Released 1999. Swing Out Sister - Icy Cold as Winter Emphasis on "Icy Cold"; released 1997.
Scrab Brain Zone, right? The drums and all...actually I got that from somewhere else but forgot where.
Sound quality is kinda ehh but here's another one to consider. SBZ from Sonic 1 GG. I'm actually working on a VGM that's a combo between those two songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwH4yoI8rws Wicked Child from the original Castlevania. I mean, they're in the same key and have the same chord progression.
WoW! Those are really creepy. I just heard Dreams of an Absolution for the first time on Monday in my car (I DLed it awhile ago and it was ramdomly added to my iPod) and I didn't notice that!
I recently learned to play Cyanide, by Metallica. As soon as I got to what I think is about 20 seconds in, there is a part that reminds me of the Egg Albatross theme from Sonic Heroes. After listening to them again, I can understand why other people might disagree, and it is only a small part of the song. It is probably just part of the style. Links: Cyanide - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0T_U9-_Mgp0&...feature=related - go 24 seconds in. Egg Albatross - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=p8YDaZiHMYw
