@Black Squirrel I'll look them up before uploading. Shame about the file names I've given them, though, since they contain information about which company put them out and which language they're in! I'll copy them and post them here, once I'm done, in case someone needs them.
Forget about the file names, here's a table I made with Google Sheets with everything I have so far. This is the second time this evening I've seen (or heard) the phrase "Adventure Role-playing" on the internet. Until this evening, I had never come across the phrase at all. Interesting to see Unreal in there The Unreal engine, but not that one, coming to the Mega Drive.
Alright genuine question - it says "archived", but where was it archived? Twitter will compress things - it would be nice to get the best version.
"If a game is not listed on this sheet than the game is not planned for release during the time periods covered." "Our new portable system Game Gear, was released in Japan several months ago." "We have begun to release the system Nationwide and expect it to be available in all areas by Mid-Summer." its like theyre going down a checklist of ways to trigger me
You may have noticed... yesterday I uploaded two complete Sonic Prime sticker books to Retro CDN (a British one published in 2023 by Alligator Products Ltd and a Brazilian one published in 2024 by Panini)... but as you know, Sonic stuff isn't my thing... so feel free to create pages about them on the Sonic Retro wiki... https://retrocdn.net/File:SonicPrime_Book_UK_2023_(Alligator_Products_Ltd).pdf https://retrocdn.net/File:SonicPrime_Book_BR_2024_(Panini).pdf
Always a worry that such things can escape us for so long Anyway I've added things to pages where possible, but there's a few weird ones I haven't committed to yet: - "Fairy Tale" for the Mega Drive I'm guessing is The Faery Tale Adventure(??) - I figured "Off-Road" would be Super Off-Road... but that's an Accolade game, before they had a license(?), so now I'm less sure - Don't know what "Nuclear War" is - there's a Mega Drive released listed for "Berlin Wall" by Kaneko. Is that the Game Gear version in the wrong table? - Don't know what "Jogee's Odyssey"-sorry "Jogee's Odyessy" is - I am guessing "Ninja Warrior" is the fabled Mega Drive version of The Ninja Warriors, but it's a fairly generic name so idk - There's a "Rastan Sage II" listed for the Game Gear, which may also be a mistake Turns out we had a page for Unreal (Mega Drive) already. Apparently EA turned up at Winter CES 1991 with this, but there's no photos (or videos) so it's a bit of a mystery. We should probably start collecting B-roll footage of CES with a list of what's being shown. Every few months I find myself diving back into this noise trying to find specific games. YouTube has clips without context and it's annoying to sift through.
They did those release lists every month, it became Sega Soft Newz. Scans of these would massively help narrow down release month / period for many games from the early 90s. The August 1991 one is shown here, I didn't notice anything that gives any more insight into those games though. Someone transcribed one from early 1991 here too. Edit: Off-Road is listed as an EA title. Edit 2: And Jogee's Odyssey is by Namco, with Ninja Warrior by Taito.
Jogee's Odyssey returns 0 hits on google. This wasn't somehow Arcus Odyssey was it? probably not. but it's been driving me crazy
That would make sense, but the blurry photo above attributes the thing to Namco. Marvel Land is listed separately so it's probably not that - maybe they were going to localise Fushigi no Umi no Nadia? All a bit weird.
Looking into this, the Brazilian one is just a localized version of an Alligotor book from the UK. Looking even further I found this catalogue (https://heyzine.com/flip-book/ad6e3864bd.html) that lists a whole bunch of other Sonic stuff, but I don't see a way of ripping it so it can be uploaded to the wiki.
https://archive.org/details/book_game-maestro_vol2 https://archive.org/details/book_game-maestro_vol3 there's also the first one https://archive.org/details/book_game-maestro_vol1 though I'm not sure how much that has to do with Sega.
https://archive.org/details/book_game-maestro_vol4 https://archive.org/details/book_game-maestro_vol5 again, not sure about vol. 4
I've uploaded volumes 1 and 2 (zip with the 600dpi files)... but I can't upload volume 3 because the upload wizard gives me this error "This file contains HTML or script code that may be erroneously interpreted by a web browser" ... what should I do?... upload the pdf (300dpi)? Edit: Yep... I uploaded the pdf of volume 3 (300dpi) and it worked... which is weird... i'm going to try volumes 4 and 5 (zip with the 600dpi files) and if the same thing happens i'll upload the pdfs (300dpi)... Edit: They're all in our "warehouse" now... all 600dpi except for volume 3, which was the only one that gave me problems... who knows why?
