The Wikipedia article on Sega Pico is sloppy as all shit.

I mean, seriously, why are all the JP games marked as "canceled"? HELLO. I can go on YJA right now and purchase those three Sailor Moon titles!

And for crying out loud I uploaded friggin' Pokemon Advance Generation and Futari wa Pretty Cure to Youtube! Where are THOSE entries?

I propose this article go through some serious revision. Can anyone supply better info on the US Side? I can throw down a list of JP Software releases based on what I find at YJA.

The problem with Wikipedia is that they're full of themselves, they'll throw you a whole bunch of [citation needed] to each edit you'll do, and they'll find ways to deem your sources as not reliable or not encyclopedic. Or something.

In short, feel free to edit that page but don't expect much luck.

  3. Unfortunately, what you stated is why I haven't gone and dnoe it already - I do not want to go through the hurdles of doing massive edits only for some scrubs to pull some retarded crap on me like what always happens [citation needed]

I really wouldn't trust wikipedia, so many people edit it with incorrect info. The only wiki I trust is the one on here. (Because no one adds bullshit lies to articles on here, like people do on Wikipedia.)

The problem with Wikipedia is that it won't let you conduct original research. Every fact needs to be referenced, and in cases like the Sega Pico... there's not always that much around on the internet about it, and if there is... chances are it came from Wikipedia. However as I've found, if you change smaller articles it doesn't always get noticed. It's only when an article gets to a size where it can be re-assessed and move up in the table of quality that this stuff becomes important.

At the end of the day that site is just too big to manage. But it's also too big and awkward to vandalise so it's still a good place to get info.

Gerbilsoft and I had a major problem dealing with this article a few weeks ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games...ic_the_Hedgehog

Somebody put a ton of fangames/false information in the article (look at the stuff we removed, some of it is actually pretty wonky). Now that was a hassle to fix. With Wikipedia, it's best to see who has made the past edits in the article, and if the sources are reliable and available (instead of 1000 citation needed tags).

While you're right that people abuse {{fact}} without citing their sources, you have to realize that a) not everyone on Wikipedia is a vandal and b) not every sysop and bureaucrat has a stick up their ass. Consider discussing all the information you have on the talk page and see what happens.

Are we talking about the same Wikipedia which deleted the Sonic Edusoft page because Sonic Retro isn't a reliable source?

Yes, but we're a wiki too. :v: But Kiddo there had more reliable sources to make his point.

I must say that it's a pain in the arse adding information to Wikipedia simply because of the cabal that's present there and the constant [citation needed] added by people to stuff that's trivially known but do it just to be an arse - and that assumes an article is even established in the first place. Gens/GS is most likely the best Mega Drive emulator on Linux but the fighting that's had to be done to get it a stable page is unbelivable.

I still use Wikipedia as a resource for a ton of stuff, but I've all but given up on editing apart from typos. There's the Retro wiki for actual work, anyway. ;P

    Welp, this.
I hate when they throw this up at us. I think of it more as a website with many editors, given that we don't have the issues the majority of wikis have.

I realize I'm not gonna win that fight, though.

I had no idea an officially licensed Nintendo game had ever existed officially on an Sega platform, much less a Pokemon game. Is it emulated?

EDIT: BTW, I'm going by the the username "Dragon DASH" at Wikipedia, just so you know who's editing the page.

  20. There's only 2 known Sega Pico ROM dumps, and they're both US games. Obviously enough, The Pokemon game isn't going around as a ROM.

There's also (at least) two other Pokemon games, but I don't have as much details on them as I do the one I put in (which I actually have a physical copy of.)
You can see footage of that on Youtube if you look me or "Sega Pico" up.

As for the other two games, one is a Johto-era game of some sort, and the other comes with a unique controller. That's all I really know on those.

I also have a directory full of pictures taken off Yahoo Japan Auctions of various Seg aPico Products.

If anyone can tell me what half this stuff is, it'd be very useful.
