Wow I totally had those!! I'm so rooting through my attic for some lovely retronerdgasms.

On another note, don't know if this is common knoledge, but after you defeat the miniboss in CNZ (Act 1), Sonic no longer uses his wobble animation when standing on the edges of the moving platform.

EDIT: Actually he can still wobble when facing right but not left. How strange...

There's yet another bug in Sonic 1 involving the music fade in subroutine. This time, instead of disabling the DAC portion of the song, it disables sound channel 6 in the Special Stage theme. Take a listen (windows movie maker sucks ass, but we all knew that...):

Yes, if you play the 1-up tune (which uses the DAC) on top of a song which uses FM6 (such as the Special Stage music), FM6 never comes back. I had this problem in my hack with a couple of songs, but I wasn't able to fix it, unfortunately.

Once again this is something I never posted about because I assumed it was well known, so it's good that you did that.

Is that a possible reason why the sonic 1 up's were removed from the special stages? we all know they are still listed in the manuals and still exists in the scrambled data outside the maze.

It is definitely possible, but there are some special stages with more than 100 rings anyway.

I sorta like the way these glitched tracks sound. What other music does it occur with?

So far I've heard S3K Save File Select screen, and now the Sonic 1 Special Stage.

Remember what topic is this =P

Yep, I can't avoid getting 100 rings on the third and sixth special stages, in fact >.>

If you finish an act and jump into a giant ring while you have speed shoes in effect, the Special Stage music will play faster.

EDIT: This is easier done on GHZ2, and it makes the results screen at the end of the special stage faster as well.

What kind of oil was used in Oil Ocean?
I was playing my not yet submitted hack on Sonic 2, defeated the Oil Ocean boss, and noticed that the place did not blow up to hell.

I wonder why that never occurred to me. Hey, maybe Robotnik was the CEO of BP.

Here's a pretty random ass observation.

In the original Sonic Adventure, in the Windy Valley - The Air section, there are windmill fixtures lining the sides of the metal skyways that you run down. These aren't present in SA DX, for whatever reason.

    edit:
and I'm %95 certain that the color scheme of the building where the burger shop is in Station Square has been changed. The sign for the Station Square Diner is removed, as well.

Come to think of it, all sorts of negligible, seemingly random changes/omissions occur throughout both Adventure 1 and 2's gamecube ports. Weird shit.

I've always wanted to make comparison pages for these games, but could never really be arsed to do it.

  13. This is less about the Sonic franchise and more about the fandom, but it was such a minor note that I didn't want to make a topic about it, even in Creative Works: Sonic Vegemite is back.

I couldn't help but smile a little, knowing that I didn't have to delete that bookmark after all. While the hoaxes aren't as amusing as they were back when I was younger, it's nice to see it still hanging around.

    Ahh nostalgia.

  18. Mmm... classy! :)

I don't know if this has been found yet, but you know those glass bulb-things that appear in Carnival Night Zone in Sonic 3? (ie. the ones that only appear about three times in the entire Zone, around the point where Knuckles switches off the lights)

You've probably noticed that they also appear in the Debug Mode sprite list, which means you can drop them all over the place even though they do absolutely nothing - unless you drop one underwater, in which case it turns into a broken bulb.

...That should be a picture of the intact and blown bulbs, if I've done it right. :specialed:

When knuckles turns off the power the water raises at the same time right? it's a good idea when you think about it: knuckles raises the water, it hits the electronic lights and shorts the entire carnival of power until sonic drops the water. It's how I see it and give them a reason for breaking under water.

But that leaves a problem, won't the water be shocking for sonic to touch? :P

The water doesn't raise, or at least you don't get to see it. It's already below the camera level when you go past that point. It does lower after that, though (and balloons pop air bubbles).
