Did you catch those interviews? Convention time with Scott Dreier (Knuckles in SA2) and David Humphrey (Shadow in SA2 and Heroes)! Love how they take on all of this after such a long time. All the vibes I've been missing for so long are all there:

Bonus: Shadow covering "Where's the Girl" from the musical "The Scarlet Pimpernel":

I accidentally found an undocumented Sonic game.

    Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball (Shockwave)

well, undocumented by us. This was developed by "Skyworks Technologies", a company set up by David Crane (of Pitfall! fame) and Garry Kitchen.

    Make all this better.

Yeah this was literally just sitting on Pachuka's Sonic Cult archive for god knows how long. Same goes for that contest Flash game based off Sonic 2's special stages.

    If you're really saucy...
Same steps, but the game's not Japanese so you can skip the Shift-JIS section.

This is one of those annoying things that I hate to see officialised. It's a question that doesn't need an answer, not even "he's a drifter". The only correct response should just be "unknown".

Professor Pickle is into real estate. Whenever Sonic feels like settling down somewhere, he can something arrange for him.

I agree that this didn't need an answer... because the games already answered it. They made it fairly obvious that he has no set home and is always on the move. This isn't officializing anything, it's just going by what the games show.

I'd argue otherwise. The games take place in no fixed location, but we don't know what during the downtime between games. It's a importantly undefined detail. If something isn't strictly necessary, just don't tell us. Leave it to the the imagination.

The games and official character profiles always portrayed Sonic as being "free as the wind". Sonic Channel literally called him the "ever-moving wind", and Sonic has said in-game that he goes wherever "the wind takes him". The only way it could be more obvious that he's a drifter is if they slapped us on the face with a dictionary open on the page with the definition of the term, but then that would break the trend of mandatory wind comparisons.

I don't know maybe sometimes the wind sometimes takes him home or The Station Square Holiday Inn.

But it's not outright stated. None of those quotes are literal. That's all it needs to be.

Of course they're not literal. Sonic isn't literally the wind, or made of wind. They're all just flowery ways of saying that he's always on the move.

If you need more literal wording:
    upload_2024-11-19_23-6-44.png

And I'm positive I've read other official profiles stating that Sonic never stays in a single place for long, which is the very definition of drifter. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Still, none of that is the same as "he doesn't have a home because he's a drifter". Putting the "drifter" label on him just teeters over the edge into defining things. "Always moving from place to place" and "always seeking adventure" don't mean that he can't return to one spot he thinks of as his home every once in a while.

It's just about defining too much. Most of the characters in the series don't have a defined home as far as we know. I just want things about the characters lives left ambiguous/uncertain unless it's absolutely called for.
