It reminds me of what happened in 2011. Some previously unseen artworks were shown in Joypolis. However, they didn't appear in Sonic Generations (or anywhere else).
I hope this time it will be different. Museum in new version of SG can be expanded with more concept art.

Incredibly odd and out of nowhere. I'm not sure if I really have much to say other than "wow they remembered it existed huh". I wish they would patch Team Sonic Racing on PC to not have awful desync issues still on multiplayer, yet here we are.

I was kinda baffled reading this too, but then it hit me that Sonic Racing wasn't developed by Sumo like TSR was and is Hardlight's work.

Perhaps the update is just cashing in on the (what I assume is) decent success of Dream Team? I think customers would be more enticed to check out other Sonic titles on the platform if they realize one was recently updated to include new content.

That being said I do really wish TSR saw more in the way of character cosmetics or updates like this. I think the online shelf life of the game really quickly decayed after the online issues weren't addressed, but updates like these might have encouraged another go. I forgot I even bought the digital soundtrack back when the game was new and found it in my digital music library recently. The remixes in it are so good and really deserved more publicity.

Unused Sonic Colors content, courtesy of ĐeäTh. He's currently documenting unused content at HedgeDocs

    Enemies:
    • "enmMetalSpanner": a gold, indestructible variant of the Thunder Spanner that behaves identically but can't be destroyed, similar to the silver Spanners that appear in Starlight Carnival.
    • "enmSparva": a Thunder variant of the Larva enemy. Behaves identically aside from being able to hurt Sonic with electricity.
    Objects:
    • "ObjectLookCamera": an object that causes the camera to lock onto a targeted object and orbit around it. It's a leftover from the Xbox 360/PS3 version of Sonic Unleashed, where it was used to show approaching Egg Chasers during quick step segments. It was later used in Generations, however.
    • "SpinLaser" variants: SpinLaser is the object that appears in Sweet Mountain and Asteroid Coaster that spins when you stand on a nearby button. There are two unused variants: one that moves in a straight line, while one follows a set path.
    • "MotoraEventCollision": an object that spawns Motora (the big, black variant of Motobug) on demand, like how they do in Asteroid Coaster Act 4 (this object isn't used there, it's handled automatically).
    • "RotationGlobe": the Pink Wisp gears that appeared in Classic Planet Wisp in Sonic Generations! They behave a bit differently here - when you make contact with them while using the Pink Wisp, they'll rotate you.
These objects are present in both the Wii version and Colors Ultimate.

Weird. Could it be assets which were made back when it was first developed, and they just realised they had them sitting around?

This also makes a lot of sense, actually.

Saw a listing for the ADV Dub of the OVA on Ebay, but it is the 2004 re-release but on VHS in a clamshell case instead of the more well known DVD Reissue. I'm not sure if its common knowledge that this version exists, pretty obscure if so.

Yeah I own the original 1999 VHS with the "scrape your knuckles, catch some tails" tagline, I've never seen the 04 reissue on tape before. The tape has different text too so it was a whole full VHS Reissue which feels crazy by 2004.

Holy moly, I literally bought it earlier in June (after not giving it any thought for 4 years) after I got a gut feeling of "hmm, I bet this is going to be delisted soon". My fascination with weird Sonic mobile games paid off I guess

Guess the Olympic rights were always set to expire just before the Paris games, makes sense.

At least on PlayStation, the human Olympics game is still listed digitally and was heavily discounted to I think $9 for the sale last month. Not now though - it's $40. According to the Switch website, the Mario and Sonic edition is also still up, but that's $60. Not saying it's going to be super rare or expensive physically or anything but if you were wanting to have those digitally it's definitely possible this is the last chance to get them. I wish SEGA would let us know for certain.

The IOC are notoriously weird when it comes to Olympic branding - you might find they apply different rules to mobile.
