Surprise, ladies and gentlemen, my friend CaioST (Lucaio Super) found extremely early version of Volcano Valley inside S3D beta rom!
Just had a funny experience. Overheard a kid telling his mum Sonic was real, and then explained what Sonic.EXE was. Funny seeing kids talk about Sonic in public. I personally never saw this 7 years ago.
So I was scrolling on TikTok today (I know some people shivered reading that, apologies) and I stumbled upon this. Someone's dad (I know great start) evidentially worked at Sega in '92 and had this floppy disk that he tried to recover that had Sonic "Icons" on it. In this case, the icons turned out to be 3 low quality BMP files. While always possible it is a hoax, I am inclined to believe it since it is so low stakes. They remind me of the art used in the instruction booklets (Specifically similar to the Spinball art) but I can't find where they would've been used if they were. The images are pretty generic... just regular early 90s Sonic Art. Anyone aware of something like this? The images aren't anything ground breaking but still wroth noting. There were other files on the floppy disk too accoridng to the OP but they stated that they were mostly contracts for Sega and other stuff about licensing.
