The pillars sort of remind me of Quartz Quadrant Zone for some reason... I dunno why though. :\ But I really love this artwork, and I can't wait to see what Sega has lined up for Sonic's 25th anniversary. :)

Oh good, it's that stupid web kit with the random Quartz Quadrant mountains again, isn't it.

Oh yeah Quartz Quadrant, good catch you two.

I don't remember it well Neo, are you referring to that weird level maker SEGA had on one of their sites ages ago? Either way I can officially stop reading into this image. At first I thought maybe it was new sprites as a sort of hint, but now it's clear that's not the case. :v:

EDIT: The Sonic FaceBook changed it's profile picture to Classic Sonic in a silver circle, by the by. https://www.facebook.com/Sonic/photos/a.434169162417.237597.23050342417/10153827950477418/?type=3&theater

And its banner, which looks like a bigger piece of the background image. https://www.facebook.com/Sonic/photos/a.10150689984292418.421268.23050342417/10153827948512418/?type=3&theater

What's happening? More Green Hill Zone?

Rehash Angel Island Zone for once. :v:

This update got me excited. I can't begin to explain why when it's nothing more than a minor variation on existing stuff, but there you go.

Aren't these brown hill things from Quartz Quadrant? Correct me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: I didn't read the previous posts. I feel like an idiot now.

Still need to stay calm. It could mean a myriad of things. Sonic 1 remake, new Classic Sonic title, Generations 2, Sonic Maker or none of the above. Still too vague to speculate.

A Sonic Maker would be disappointing; I already feel pretty burned out from Mario Maker.

Wait until it turns out that Sonic Maker is actually the game, and part of SEGA's marketing push is "With Sonic Maker, you can even add inclines and slopes to your levels!" :v:

Its not just me right? Those images are pretty shitty for a 25th anniversary? I feel like somebody did those while drunk.

My game with an extremely long name!
No, I'm with you Hez. I'm a bit burnt out on everyone cashing in on nostalgia lately, as I've said earlier. We've had approximately 15, if not more rehashes of Green Hill. Why don't they come up with a brand new level that the looks alone will have everyone hooked on by the originality? I know I sound a bit angry, but I don't think we've had any particularly original levels since Colours. That seems a bit problematic, considering that was over five years ago. Also that last sentence gave me déjà vu. I feel that's somewhat relevant.

You know that it's possible that the Green Hill Zone thing is just for promotional stuff. It could be that there won't be yet another Green Hill remake or Green Hill-like level in the next big Sonic game.

I'm not mad about them using Green Hill or whatever. I'm talking about the actual quality of those images. They look like turds with burnt hair on them. Like a 12 year old figuring out Photoshop did these.

You must be pretty good with photoshop - I couldn't draw for squat when I was 12.

It would be helpful if they used real Sonic games rather than the frankly bizarre Green Hill/Quartz Quadrant mashup that turns up from time to time for some reason. But Sega's marketing team have form for being god-awful and I really don't think they should be getting attention - remember when they advertised Sonic 4 by using the prototype run animation from Sonic 2? I.e. what ended up being the first result on Google images? The "we don't know what the most successful video game we've ever made looks like"?

And the crap they've come out with in interviews.

Anyway as I said last time there is nothing to celebrate - I don't understand why we have to have these "anniversary games" every five years. But hey, Sonic Lost World and Sonic Boom - real classics of our time, so glad people get paid lots of money to make them.

I guess with no new big Sonic games in more than a year people are so desperate to nitpick that we're even going to nitpick the banner of the Twitter/Facebook pages now?

And when we're talking about Sega's marketing being crap, maybe don't pick a five-six year old example. While they definitely need to improve the marketing for their non-Sonic games, they've been doing an amazing job when it comes to Sonic on social media. You know, cause :ruby:.

So what happens when Sonic 2 beta is leaked?

    http://retrocdn.net/index.php?title=File%3AMeanMachinesSega05UK.pdf&page=6

Sega of Japan get jumpy and demand that first-party Sega prototypes have to be played at a location of their choosing, e.g. Sega Europe head offices. It's not a policy that lasted very long, but this was a thing.

Anyone able to pinpoint where this preview shot on this cart came from? Looked at all magazines and preview shots and can't find it. I'm doubting this cart is a proto and they took that pic themselves for the cart, but I'm curious what their source was.
