I still have the very first Sonic Advance image that the Sonic Team uploaded to their site, which seems to match that scan in many ways.



I thought it was just a mockup because I've never seen this in motion, but an auto-demo would also make sense I guess.

 

These by the way are the earliest videos we have of Sonic Advance in it's development stage. I found them when I was researching Sonic Advance prior to submitting the pre-release cart.

So this is more of a question than new information, but... does anyone know where this remix of "Super Sonic Racing" came from? I only have the short snippet, which I think I got off of YTMND many years ago, but it's always kinda stuck with me - but I have no idea who this singer is. It's clearly not TJ Davis, for what that's worth.

 

I'm fairly certain I saw this video back in the day too - I think that's how SOST got its screenshots.

Although if it helps, there wasn't much more to it than what's described there. I can't even remember if it had music.

So I've never heard anyone ever bring this up and I just want to confirm that I'm not seeing things, but at around 5:06 in the video, in City Escape Act 2 at the part near the stairs near the truck, there is a mural right on top of the stairs. I can't get a clear picture of it, but from a glance I always thought that mural was a homage to this:



That lion mural that looks like Mario facing forward. Am I onto something or am I just... on something.

While playing Shadow Dancer on my PSP earlier today, I noticed something very strange. I think that Sonic 3 may have stolen one of its sound effects.

The sound effect.

It sounds awfully similar to Sonic 3's insta-shield sound effect. Of course, Shadow Dancer was released four years~ before Sonic 3, so IT certainly didn't steal anything. This could possibly be a coincidence, but I thought I'd bring it up.

 

The Mega Drive game? The thing does use SMPS...

I don't think I've ever not seen Mario on that thing. It's really hard to unsee it to remember what it's supposed to be.

Maybe it was intentional, putting Mario on a ruin like that...

 

Gosh, you're right! Geez Laweez, what's up with this? Did the same or related people do the sound effects for these games or something?

 

Probably. Same bass sound in most of those songs as Spring Yard, and it's fair to call it Sega's Other Major Series at the time.
