Alright then, at what point did me or Sneekie enquire as to your opinion on the matter we were discussing? ...have you been saying barely any difference as to the effects on the continuity of the franchise, and not as a direct comparison between the two like I've been noting? You say as he saves the fox from two bullies, which Sonic Prime confirmed as deliberate, gave him a friendly wink, and actually turned to check and cheer him on. He's being friendly. Aka, a difference in behaviour. I never complained, I simply noted you're not worth the argument. I'm sorry for causing you upset, charcoal. I'm quite happy to stop the discussion, as soon as Shaddy backs off.
(this isn't really related to anything but I just wanted to say we reached 5.000 replies to the Continuity Thread, yay As a newcomer I have been watching the thread for just a few months, so it'd be cool to hear from you guys what has been the experience so far discussing the series' lore, assuming you've all been here long before I first found the thread)
To answer your question Slobo, despite the tangents and arguments that happen in this thread, it's refreshing to be able to discuss series lore somewhere. I don't always contribute due to said arguments and tangents, but it's still interesting to read. It's good to look at other people's takes and opinions. Welcome to the forums and the thread!

I've posted this in the Prime topic, but Sonic X already showed Tails being bullied right before he met Sonic and this was written by the Japanese staff.
You guys had a moon discussion and no one mentioned that Eggnan fixes the moon in Sonic Battle (where the final battle happens)? They had him fix it in the same way in Sonic X.
The moon isn't even mentioned anywhere in the script of Sonic Battle, as far as I can tell... is there some other source you're pulling that from??
Oh, I forgot about that one. I still don't think there's any evidence Eggman fixed the moon there, though.
In addition to Eggman's base being on the moon, in Sonic Advance, the Chaos Emeralds also seem to be outer space (so their energies could have done something to the moon). The opening also shows an Emerald landing in Eggman's hand, which might have tied the emeralds into his moon base plans. It felt like all the breadcrumbs were there to explain how the moon got fixed. But the game does nothing with them, so it's all just baseless speculation. And then Cream appears in SADX, so it's not clear if Advance even takes place after SA2.
Advance features the SA1 version of the original Tornado so it’s probably before the Adventure games, so the moon being whole would make sense.
I remember placing Advance 1 before Adventure 1 in my timeline due to the plane, and people told me the planes are inconsistent throughout the games so they cannot be used as piece of evidence.

Honestly the more we delve into this the more I find myself preferring the Origins version of the Sonic 2 story. The JP manual seems to hinge on Tails already knowing who Sonic is, like he’s some kind of celebrity. This already isn’t compatible with Origins Sonic 1, which is confirmed to be the first meeting of Sonic and Eggman (whether that’s a good or bad change can be argued independently, personally I’m ambivalent on it at this point). Meanwhile, Origins shows Tails meeting Sonic as a result of being directly helped by him, making him less of a fanboy. Also, I really don't think Sonic not acting aloof towards Tails is an issue. Sonic being encouraging towards Tails from the off gives Tails more credibility as a friend of Sonic's rather than a hanger-on and makes their relationship more directly symbiotic, whereas the JP manual sets it up as Tails having to prove himself to Sonic in order to even really earn his acknowledgement.
Advance just doesn't have enough of a plot for anything about it's place in canon or whatever to really take hold. The story in both manuals amounts to "Oh no! Stop Doctor Eggman!". I'm not even sure X-Zone is on the moon, or if it's a regular space station base and Eggman and Sonic just happen to fight on the moon in the endgame (either way, there's enough moon left that it doesn't prevent it from being post-SA2). For that matter, what the hell is "True Area 53" in Advance 2? A...stretch of empty space? Bit of a weird thing to give any kind of name to, at least "Doomsday Zone" could describe the situation too.
Ah, I see you too have watched J's Reviews version of the timeline. Amy is involved in the events of Sonic Advance, so I would say after Sonic Adventure myself. Also after Sonic Shuffle, to link the ending to the beginning, but that's just me. I mean, if you're using the variant of Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive)'s story in Sonic Origins for the plot, then I'm not sure why you'd be using Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Mega Drive)'s manual plot. If we consider the manual plots, then Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive) establishes that Sonic and Robotnik have been doing this dance for a little while at least. So I could see Tails being aware of Sonic from that. Yeah, Tails has to prove himself. Considering Sonic just had to deal with Metal Sonic kidnapping Amy Rose, another 8 year old hanger-on who followed him around, I could see him just keeping his distance from these kids who keep latching onto him. The fact Tails proceeds to prove himself by keeping pace, defeating Robotnik's mechs alongside him and attaching a custom booster to his Tornado to chase down the Wing Fortress before Sonic accepts him as a friend makes sense to me. But to each to their own opinion. The True Final Boss of the game is set in the Moon Zone, so it's the Moon.
