It's been raised several times in the thread, actually. And considering Chaos, Solaris and the Gaias, I think he's got fair reason to.
軌跡 can mean tracks (like tire tracks) or locus. I think maybe island of tracks would be a more accurate translation, though it still seems weird to me. Island of trails, maybe? And I’m not sure if I’d translate it as an island name rather than a descriptor/title.
I think Ian Flynn has got some significant input into these matters. I think the success of the comics and praise for his writing has lead to SEGA heeding and respecting his input when restructuring the canon of the franchise. I'm sure there are other voices contributing but I think Ian is probably the one who's the closest to acting like a conduit for the fans on many things, thanks to his interactions with them via BumbleKast. I wholeheartedly believe that, without him being accessible to fans and open to discuss lore with them, we would still have two worlds going on, but we may not even have been aware of it at the same time.
Oh, I follow the Bumblecast myself. Need to join the discord too. Keep forgetting. But in doing research into the English Sonic Bibles I'd found a small mention of Sonic Team also having a similar document somewhere. I can't remember if it was the same Interview talking about the mysterious method of jumping worlds or not. But it would be amazing to see what level of crazy it has comparing it to what they'd actively disregard at times. Edit: And as for not knowing anything, we would never have known they'd even considered the two two-worlds stance if Iizuka hadn't just randomly dropped it in an interview about Colors. And any follow ups just left even more questions. Ugh. Ian is definitely a voice of reason, since IDW has been working so close with Sonic Team at least. But between AAUK and Ruby Eclipse talking about notes they'd put in for strange things in scripts and a continuous overhaul and disregard of Continuity at a whim I still remain concerned. As for Ian, his "knowing winks" and writing of a game story now he definitely is in the best position of anyone to straiten it out though. Still, also was laying out open pdfs of manual Translations and was working out where things went by character introductions and returns. The SegaSonic thing sideswiped me because I was also of the camp it would fit between 1 and 2. And the Tails Adventure thing also irked me considering everything. I get that a lot happens after 3 now, but I think Chaotic also mentioned a short timeframe after some event on Angel Island which of course is Sonic 3, but it leaves me wondering if it meant Sonic's story or the later Knuckles one. Assuming Knuckles with what they've said now but I was never sure before. Also think Ian mentioned notes as to whether Sonic R was on the timeline or not at any given time. Seems that the revisions have been going on for maybe some time.

Prior translation I'd seen may have been off because grazing the surface definitely seems to be the Sonic Story and I'm not sure i remember seeing that exact line. But in that several months timeframe might give us clarification that the Knuckles story probably happened in that I'd think than too. As for Ian, he even said that some of his input on Origins was overridden. So it's not squarely on his shoulders. I think that was in one of the Bumblekasts in the last week. Might have been Friday's. I'd have to see specifically what that was in response to.
I imagine Knuckles' story takes place in pretty short order after Sonic's story. No signs of any of Eggman's tech in disrepair. It could very well have started in the same afternoon that Sonic tears the Death Egg apart and returns the Master Emerald to Knuckles.
I'd seen some good points raised before. The Master Emerald was on the edge of Angel Island and Knuckles had moved it to Sky Sanctuary by his story and was just chilling with the Critters. It did imply some time had passed. If it was a day or weeks, it's practically impossible to say. Always saw people bringing it up as a food for thought question and I've seen it enough that it stuck with me.

I've always seen it as starting a week or two later. Badniks are still active. Launch Base is flooded but none of the exposed metalwork has rusted or rotted. It makes sense that after the events of Sonic's story, Knuckles would want to clean up the island and get rid of the remaining badniks and free the animals in short order, but (assuming his S&K intro is at least somewhat canon) he's still resting, probably because of exhaustion after fighting Sonic and Eggman, and it isn't until Egg Robo starts shit that he kicks off. It seems strange that he'd wait months to do it, but it's not impossible. It's also worth noting that Sonic catches Knuckles, suggesting that at least enough time has passed for Sonic and Tails to go back somewhere else and then for Sonic to want to fly back to visit, so it's probably more than a few days.

The Newtrogic High Zone can be seen in the sea in the background. The bit about Chaotix is presented as real world history. "Vector first appeared in Chaotix on 32X" and so on. It's a retrospective, separate from the story. The Master Emerald is still in the Hidden Palace when you go through a Super Ring. It's in the Sky Sanctuary Zone at the end of the game because Egg Robo or Mecha Sonic stole it, which is why Angel island is falling in the background.
Totally had forgotten that the Master Emerald is still in Hidden Palace during Emerald collecting. After years of people just saying in the Knuckles run it was in Sky Sanctuary, and I think a lot assuming I think my mind just sorta disregarded that. Which it's still odd that there is a platform in Sky Sanctuary that looks as though it was made to support an Emerald. Though the wobbling of the Island I'd assumed then was just due to tampering by Mecha Sonic and the Egg Robo. It would make sense they just stole it and that Knuckles would rush over to Sky Sanctuary using his Emerald Sense to note it wasn't on the Island after a certain point. For a game which does a decent job of subtle visual storytelling this is one of the things not the best conveyed.

BlackHole, I hear ya. Running on about the same amount of sleep. So sorry for rambling. The retrospective stuff was included for every calendar story as background for the characters. I'm confused as to why most translations I'd seen ignored them. Fun history stuff. Also, I was looking at the Sky Sanctuary Emerald pedestal. At first I thought it might be an Eggman construct due to looking similar to the claw used to grab the Master Emerald on a quick rewatch. Then I see that it has some of the moss growing on it like the stage itself looking at the sprites of it implying that it was there for something adding questions as to why. Also, thanks Pengi. I'd find it hilarious if they named an island by a typo. Though I don't think we can rule out a deliberate choice without asking someone first.
As long as you keep being stubborn about your own headcanon, it'll be a losing battle. If you wanna try to make a difference, pass your passion through Flynn's BumbleKast. Who knows, it may reach them and maybe bring a change, be it something big or tiny.
More the disrespect to the original manuals. I suppose I can probably send a single message to Bumblekast explaining my dislike of the current timeline and ask if there's a place to suggest alternative options to what they're doing now, but I don't think harassing them will change a thing either.
Why harass them? Why not make a constructive criticism of how SEGA's handling the overall canon? Surely others may have made them way worse questions over time, you can be different from them.
Hence my saying "single message". I don't want to harass them at all, which I'm worried I'll do if I send more than one message.
