    That's a brilliantly ergonomic idea.

    Hey! Cut that out.

That's actually partly wrong. I never grew up with a SEGA Genesis. I ended up playing Sonic 1-3&Knuckles and CD a year or two ago on Gensplus, and I loved it. The point I wanted to make was I didn't get that same feeling with the Advance games. I did play the first Advance, but only once, and it's not memorable enough to me like the originals were, so I don't remember much from it except the first zone and parts of the final zone. Mind you that upon replaying Advance 2 and getting over the negative Press-Right-to-Win stigma people give it, I thoroughly appreciated its overall design and levels in spite of the (over)emphasis on speed. I liked it. Just not the same way I liked Sonic 3 & Knuckles for example. They're different games.

Well, I certainly hope so, if only for the sake of its marketing. Also if it turns out to be more fun than I'm giving it credit for.

  2. This game WILL sell. There's no doubting it. I'm sure those who really don't want to buy it, won't but most people who say they won't probably will anyway, just to see if its any good.
At the end of the day, the game could be techincally good, but whether it is great or outstanding, really depends on the players own feelings on it.
People going in hating it, won't enjoy it as much as people going in all optimistic.
I personally think this game will be good, but I really hope I get a pleasant surprise, with it instead turning out really good, or even amazing.
I hope that those of you who have lower expectations are also pleasantly surprised.

In any case, if this game does sell really well, SEGA may end up making a Sonic 5 and so on, with the 3D games serving as either spinoffs or events taking place in between the main series. I think that would be a good way of structuring it.

What they should, as some have said, is split the main series into two seperate canons. One for the 3D games so the kids get their swords, guns and werehogs, and one for the 2D so we can have the same constant satisfaction as we did from 91-94 all over again.

I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
He means that there's no load time when you restart a stage, even though there's one when you start it for the first time.

The load times themselves are quick enough, but the game's programmed in such a way that the Restart option doesn't require one. It'd be sad if it did, considering it's a 2D game.

Oh, there will be load times. Even cartridges had load times. (*glares at the N64*)

It'd be more accurate to think of them as two main series, the numbered 2D series and the mainstream 3D series.

And so after 2 weeks of no updates we get Jaws.

  6. Well to be fair, what else can they update with. I mean, we pretty much know what most of the badniks are going to be for this episode. They're just releasing stuff because I'm presuming some fans haven't seen the leaks.

Well, yeah. I'm just a little disappointed that that's ALL we got after 2 weeks. I was kinda hoping for that Splash Hill video.

Well, the concept art's nice, but from here on out most of the website's updates will be pretty useless to those of us who watched the leaks.

Nice to see a clear image of the badnik, though.

  9. True, they have better stuff that they could have revealed, but at this stage, does it really matter that we get a Splash Hill video? We know at least one route through all 3 acts....

    Why is it pink?

Also I see no new timers. An effect of the leaks, I presume.

Also, I don't get why they added Jaws, of all things. It's one of the most pathetic underwater enemies in the Sonic series!

What do you mean, "Why is it pink?"? They changed some of the colouration because his jaw now looks metallic, but it's pretty much the same.

I love how he looks. I didn't watch any leaked video with him in it, so it's new to me. :v:

Well, at this point, I'm not even sure they're sure what they want to show next, let alone when. :/ So yeah...

I guess we should occasionally pop into the site to see if they've put up new countdowns. It's a shame, really—this kind of spoils the fun for the people who didn't watch most/any of the leaks.

I suppose it's just because it's a Labyrinth Zone remix. If I were a betting man, though, I'd bet on seeing another water stage or two in later episodes with different aquatic badniks.

Hey guys, now that the leaks have been out for a while, was this Platform concept ever used?

    http://info.sonicretro.org/File:Needlemaus_Rot_Plat.jpg

I didn't get to watch ALL of the footage; it would have to have been in Mad Gear Act 2 or 3, but I was just curious if this was used, unused, or perhaps being considered for a later episode.

EDIT: Before someone says "Check the footage", I can't conveniently find it, and obviously asking for it here is a no-no.

Pretty sure someone brought that up a while ago, and it wasn't seen anywhere. If it is in the game, then it managed to avoid the camera.

There were some kind of platform in Mad Gear Act 2 and 3 that were kind-of like that.

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that you're going to control those platforms using motion control. They seemed to turn at random.

I didn't notice them in any of the videos. Maybe they're on a path the player didn't take.

All I have to say is I'm gonna get the game, even if the reviews for it are negative. 10 bucks for some old school fun. I thought Megaman 10 was worth the 10 bucks and so will this.

I said in the last thread that I'm pretty sure those are the same platforms, they just look very different in game. And yeah, I'm almost certain they're motion controlled as well.
