So, minecart confirmed in the iOS version of Sonic 4. Why am I happy for that?

As bad as it looked on 360 I would guess it controls much better on a Itouch or Iphone. In fact picturing tilting it as you go along the level seems pretty awesome to me!

I never noticed. I'll have to play Sonic 3 by itself and compare. If that's the case, though, then let's lock and load.

Well, either way, it's a start.

Seeing it explained further here makes a lot more sense to me. You need to beat all of splash hill zone, and then you can do the zones in any order, but you have to beat the first 3 acts before you can face the boss.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
I'm not sure. Yes you're still required to beat the level to fight the boss but why allow me to jump between levels to begin with?

Thanks for this. Just cropped it and set it as my wallpaper.

Because it's new and hasn't been done before. If the possibility comes up where you can't get past a certain pont in one level, you can temporarily skip it and play another. Keeps the boredom and frustration levels down. I see no harm in it. Personally when I get it, I'll probably just play everything in order like most will do anyway.

As for the S3/S&K engine, WHAT/HOW were things changed? I've played both games for over a decade and never noticed. Is there something slightly different in the coding for the physics? The only things that S&K "fixes" when locked onto Sonic 3 are certain level elements and the placement of power-ups. Surely I haven't overlooked things from a non rom-hacker standpoint....with the exception of the CPZ boss in Sonic 2.

As long as there aren't any FUCKING BARREL moments, who's gonna get stuck in a level? I didn't even get stuck in Casino Night, to be honest.

The only thing I noticed that was different between sonic 3 and sonic 3 and knuckles is that in S3&K, you can hit item capsules from the side instead of actually jumping on top of them if you're holding right. That and some different level design and item placement.

Well, probably not "stuck" as in the whole 10 minutes, but the parts where there's a ton of bumpers. If I'm right, one in particular is at a Half Pipe part near the Boss since you can be sent bouncing around quite a bit.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
I guess I used a poor example. The physics changes between the two WERE in fact so minor as to be entirely unnoticeable except in very rare circumstances, not like the major changes that Sonic 4 needs. For example.

And as for changes in levels, I'm pretty sure that, as I said, it was mostly just object placement (for example, that box in HCZ2 is a 1up in S3K, but not in S3).

I meant Carnival Night, actually. My bad.

We've known about that price for a LONG time. Ken said it would be 10-15 dollars a couple months ago.

Okay so your in the camp that says its better than what we have gotten recently. I can respect that, I'm just not that desperate. I've been wanting a Sonic that could hold its own to Nintendo's Mario offerings since late 1994 or the last time a Sonic game could hold its own to a Mario game. We're never going to get there giving it to the same team that is making the same stupid mistakes that have been made for years. In fact they invented new stupid mistakes rehashing graphcis, badniks, and bosses. So sorry if I'm not Yay Sonic 4!

DIMPS and anymore SEGA internally make cheap, bad games. Reviews reflect this and you can't expect Sonic to be anything but under their control.

I don't really think it's fair to expect SEGA to make games better than Nintendo's recent mario games, mostly because in my and many people's opinion, what mario has recently done (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2) is better than even the classic sonic games. So yes, it would be nice for sonic to compete with mario again, but for some people, sonic never WAS competition for mario. Maybe from a sales standpoint, but there are obviously tons of people who never thought sonic was on mario's level.

Being worse than mario quality doesn't make it a "cheap, bad game", and if it did, I'd have to say most games are cheap and bad. There's a such thing as a "good" game, and that's why I'm excited for it. I'm not excited for it because it's the best it's been in a while, I'm excited for it because it looks like a good game in general, especially on the downloadable market.

Edit: And I don't know why you made the "reviews" comment, sonic rush, rush adventure, sonic advance 2, all games that many in the core fanbase hate got GREAT reviews, and so will sonic 4.

I've read that Android doesn't handle applications that use a lot of RAM very well, even if the device has enough enough memory for it due to how the applications are made. From my understanding, they are written in Java, and then the bytecode is recompiled into machine code by this thing that doesn't handle large amounts of RAM very well. And plus, there's the business about having to write it in Java. I might be out of date, but that's my understanding of the situation.

$15 would be a horrible price to pay for this shit. $10 is reasonable. I mean, this is only a silly episodic thing, not a full game.
Considering why they made this game "nothing special", they should have made a PC port out of it.

Most downloadable titles are 10 dollars. I don't think I have any that are 5. 15 would still sound perfectly reasonable, it's only 1/4 the price of a full game, and this is 1/4 of a full game, right?
