Just to add to that with an example, you can do this in Hidden Palace to get extra rings.

This right here. Sonic Rush may not have classic phyiscs, but "Not having classic physics" =/= "Bad Game".

Right, but it's a different kind of fun, you know?

The 10 minute time limit was in the classic games. Removing it would just cause more bother but knowing Dimps, they will add an option to have it disabled.

Also joining the coloured spring bandwagon here. Colours represented the strength of the spring, yellow was weak and red was strong. Of course, it doesn't apply any more because the physics in the game would ruin the yellow springs. Definately something for later episodes.

    A secret. >:3
You say that like it's a bad thing. I would love it if they gave that option, not everyone wants it, it hinders exploration and I don't like to jusst pick a route and stick by it. I liked that about Advancem if I saw some form of other route, I just backtracked and saw if I could take it, I didn't have to go through the hassle of working my way back up to that point because some derp thought time limits were a good idea. I thought the reason they were partially removed in later games was because they weren't a popular idea. Adventure didn't have a forced timer.

This is also why I love Advance 3 actually, it has hidden chao to find and therefore some focus on my style of exploration.

Edit: This is also why I liked Sonic 3 but the damn timer made finding big rings hell.

Buy Sonic Rush Adventure. I played Rush, loved it but Rush Adventure is so much better! The 3D gimmicks on the end of each second act are awesome :3

Rush Adventure makes it boring to even select the level where to start. For some reason, they had to replace the menus with a stupid RPG where it almost takes more time starting a level than finishing it. >:(

Pressing Y takes you to the stage select menu. Still no flow between levels, but you don't have to look at the map every time.

The Rush series was okay. Good for road trips. Same with the Classic Collection for that matter, but that's a slightly different species altogether. I don't particularly enjoy the boss fights in the first one with some exceptions, and while the second one had interesting maritime minigames and slightly bigger (?) levels, I only like it slightly more than Rush. The story was tacked on and running around in not-RPG land seemed like a waste. I think I'd prefer Sonic 4.

On that note, in spite of most of the technical complaints levied against Episode 1, the game looks gorgeous and fun. Probably will be too in spite of no uncurling, tweaked physics, and the presence of the homing attack. Go figure.

I'm positive that most people here would enjoy a Mega Drive demake of Sonic 4 much better than the Sonic 4 we're getting. I know I'd rather spend my money on that, from the looks and sounds of this.

I can certainly see that. And I'm sure it will be done once this is all over. Mark my words.

  12. Sonic Rush worked without the classic physics because the game was designed with less focus on it.

And I still don't see why this is such a big deal.

Easy. Rush wasn't as fun as Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles.

    And nostalgia I suppose.

Because without designing the game with correct physics and momentum in mind, we're getting a Bubsy the Bobcat sequel.

It depends. To me it was. Sonic 3K has no Replay value, it's not fast as Rush, and Rush Adventure has a lot of unlockables and all those nice features makes it a lot better to my tastes.

While I won't argue with the content that is Rush Adventure's replay value, I will tell you that Sonic 3K has plenty of replay value in and of itself.

Sometimes, replay value is not measured in smoke and mirrors.

Edit in response to the post below this:

Well, it's something like this. I love apples. I bought three apples in the past, and I was happy with it. Later, the same vendor started selling bananas. I even like bananas, but miss the apples. Bananas are cool on their own terms, but not the same thing - there's nothing like an apple in the world. Years later, the salesman comes up to me saying: "hey, you know, I'm going back to selling apples". And I: "seriously, wow"! Then I'll buy my apple, and discover that it is a banana.

    I am disappoint.

In other words, it is not enough to sell the best game in the world, if that's not the game you want to play. Selling the best strategy game for a fan of action games is no good, because this is not what he wants, nor what he asked. Yes, there are many people who like both action and strategy (or, the mechanics of the old and new Sonic games, for that matter). And good for them, they are on their right. But that does not meet the specific need of the former group.

If you're thirsty, it's not worth eating. This is a big deal. And that kind of thing (gradual changes in the style of games, inside or outside of a specific series) that is causing the extinction of several interesting styles of games.
