My only actual complaint is the quality of the actual trailer and not the game. I don't like the insane amount of cuts they have for 56 seconds of footage and this crappy music that they like to put in. It's just a sub par trailer that doesn't show much and the music sure as hell doesn't get you in the mood for a Sonic game.

You act as though you're new here.

Also, that automatic spring thing has been around since Chaotix. They're never going to change it.

Oh I see, I guess I part of the reason I wasn't revolted by it was the fact I have my sound muted atm.

I wouldn't agree. Basically it shows that Sonic still loses all his horizontal movement in mid-air. Run off a ramp, hit a spring.. anything. Totally kills any momentum you have going.

EDIT: Mad Echidna, what I mean is Sonic was moving to the right when he hit the spring so he should keep going in that direction in the as well as upwards in the air.

Uh, disappointed. It's basically Splash Hill with a fancy backdrop and explosions. At least show us some stuff that's worthwhile, like bouncing off badniks, no un-curling off ramps, and for the love of god, FIX THE DAMN PHYSICS.

  6. It might just be the new blur, but Sonic's quills really do look like they're going Super Saiyan 3 now.

Are you talking about the physics in the trailer, or the physics from past showings of Splash Hill Zones? The trailer looked great to me, I didn't really have much to complain on.

That was a bit of nothing - they cut up the gameplay shots so much you can barely see what's happening.

Also, don't know if anyone noticed, but that water slide at 0:25 looks like the never ending one in Labyrinth Zone in Sonic 1. + - Moar rehash, commence shitstorm.

    Hmm...

The killed momentum has more to do with the fact that the spring is one of those modern springs, which send you into a pre-ordained direction regardless of what you do, as opposed to the classic metal spring, which you can combine with momentum to travel into interesting areas.

As for momentum being dead when you come off ramps, that's not true. Most of the ramps seem to shoot Sonic straight up. If there are ramps that actually send Sonic off at an angle, he can proceed forward with all of his momentum, as you can *barely* see in the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ezTl2QxXFY#t=01m16s

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
You mean the one that's very similar to the oil slides in Oil Ocean Zone, the neverending ice slopes in Ice Cap Zone 1, and the neverending sand slides in Sandopolis 2? + - (And possibly those slide things in S2 Hidden Palace)   This is something that appeared in EVERY GENESIS SONIC GAME in one form or another. It's not like rehashing a boss when it's a standard rather than something that only appeared in S1 or S2.

That's becuase the player was holding left or right. This video shows how he stops. If the springs just knock you straight up by design but the mid-air momentum is fixed otherwise it'll be fine. Anyway, no more on this from me now since I'm sure you don't appreciate me clogging the topic with yet more bitching.

I know classic fanboys will probably hurt me for this, but why are we back to the timer? I hope you can turn that off, I liked that about Sonic Advance, it had the option to toggle it so it offered for both players that care and ones who just want to look around.

  13. No, he should be completely dead from running into a big metal platform face first. Quit complaining about the physics of a game you haven't played yet.

I actually think automated springs aren't much fun to experiment with, so I agree with the complaint that the vertical momentum should be effected by horizontal momentum, there's nothing stopping a player from just steering themselves into the spring instead of being forced into the spring anyway.

The springs in the genesis games could be used in all sorts of subtle ways, but these springs have only one possible outcome. They're a lot like the barrels from Donkey Kong country.

^This. Where this spring is placed, he'd be going straight up anyways. If he kept going, he's smack his face against the wall.

Also, you CAN use momentum with the springs, as shown in this video at 0:45, and again at 1:54.

In the Classic games, doesn't Sonic stop if he runs into the side of a spring? Not that I'm complaining. It's not that big a deal regardless.

    Yes, yes he does.

Why are they neglecting the yellow springs? I hate how they're all just...red.

  19. Maybe they are using momentum as an indicator for how high you bounce now, instead of just making different powered springs?
