The Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Megathread

I think the Unleashed model looks fine, but it just needs more rigid-looking quills.

 

I haven't seen his quills bend like spaghetti in S4, just bounce a little. That's fine.

 

I have to go back and look at some footage since that's piqued my interest now.

Maybe I just expect too much from a Sonic game sometimes, but has anyone else thought it would be nice if, when he crouches down and covers his head (like in the classics, not like the GBA games) that if an enemy landed on him, they would die? Sure I guess that would be cheap, but other than his curling into a ball to jump, he just doesn't act much like a hedgehog. I've always thought the reason his classic crouch existed was in homage to a hedgehog's typical method of protection, but it never functioned as such...

But maybe I just expect too much from a Sonic game, Sonic does a horrible job of representing their animals, other than big fishing, Tails being smart, Sonic's spindash, etc.

 

I don't think the enemy should just die, but I think that there should be some form of protection.
kinda like how when you fight knuckles in S&K, and if you try to spin dash into him head-on, he'll block it by crouching.

For a boss, yes. Generic enemies? I don't know...

I always thought it was kinda stupid that you can't do the same to him. I tried it once, and it did not work well.

Yeah, I agree, if Knuckles landed on you while crouching, it should have done damage to him, I always thought he was a godmodder in Sonic 3 anyway. "Yeah you stupid echidna bitch, why don't you press that fucking button a little closer so I can jack you for my emeralds?!" And what's stopping Sonic from just running him over in Carnival Night again? "Floating Island has the ability to make random invisible walls appear! :specialed:" Seriously though, it'll be funny if he tries something in Sonic 4 and you have a way to fuck him up, just for the lulz that would ensue from players that remember Sonic 3.

Ouch. That's really cold. Of course we know it's true, but those people are probably the ones who are the least fussy. Would it really hurt to tailor things more towards the "tiny internet community" if everyone else will be happy regardless?

 

Did we think we mattered to them? If we mattered to them Sega would've allowed a larger budget for Sonic 4. They didn't give a large budget because they assume that it's aimed at a small community of people.

I bet you'd never hear me say this, but...it's not news.

Why? As far as I'm aware, Ingolme is a mod who acts independent of Sega and the community team. It prolly wasn't smart those words were written on the Sega boards, but it would be a much bigger deal had it come from Webber or Balough's mouth. (It also prolly would have gotten them fired.)

 

Wait, wasn't it the internet community that made the biggest fuss about what was seen in the Sonic 4 leaks that started the changes for that game in the first place?

Then again, if Sonic 4 is aimed towards the internet community, then they would make sure the internet community is going to buy their game....

hmm...

 

Is it out of the question that the general community might be interested in buying a good Sonic game as well? Is that such a hard concept?

 

Well, there's always the optimism that whatever they're changing will ensure that, we haven't seen a new build in months(?) and that new LLZ act did look like they were definitely changing things...

Although we all know SoJ doesn't give a shit, they probably made this 'tiny downloadable title' to get more money from American suckers.

 

They'd be foolish to ignore the 300,000 + people who watched that Mushroom Hill 3D vid, and the thousands of comments saying "this is what Sonic 4 should've been".
