Probably a bad example, but my point was that there are people who cared about those 'little things' called cosmetics. They do make a difference, and cosmetics are important for advertising a product anyway. Especially to the crowd Sonic was directed at back then.

Or a roulette table that you roll around in circles that works similarily to the slot machines, or some cards that flip and work like those platforms in Wing Fortress, so that when you see their face, they can't be walked on, but when they're down, they can be.

Considering that Dimps actually created something different while using the previous intended gimmick in a small way, I'll assume that they might do something different while still using the slot machine. In fact, since CSZ only had one slot machine, they might as well make an act with a few, just without the stupid score attack element.

I wouldn't mind if they used the score attack thing as a gate, where you have to get so many points to get past it (but obviously, far less points than at present and it's part of a much larger level).

So basically Casino Street 1 with slot machines, so basically Casino Night? I'm okay with that I suppose, but I'd love to see an extra little something added. Balloons, bingo cards, just something to give more substance even if it isn't original. The worst thing they could do is keep the stage as a giant pinball table that's laid out more like a standard stage. Wouldn't be surprising though you know.

Having ring-gates or score-gates multiple times through out Act 2 would be cool, having to use the slot machines to save up some coin.

I think some vertical platforming would be neat too, using a balloon gimmick to float up. Dimps would be able to port those things from Rush's Water Palace for that...

One last thing that might be cool is a board game, similar to the one in Treasure's Gunstar Heroes. I think that would fit the level's theme.

Or heck, even just reuse the balloons from Sky Babylon. Not sure I'm fond of the idea of gate though. It just seems like it'd be mundane in the same way that Heroes and 06 were with gates locked by enemies.

They could remove this problem by making the gates alternate routes, and having a main route that doesn't require rings/score.

Similar to Sonic R? I can live with that.

LLZ2 raised my standards for CSZ2 though, I hope we see something more interesting than just an unremarkable Act 1 with pinball machines. Maybe they could take that launcher thing from CNZ and put it on a rotating wheel that starts spinning when you go through a tunnel? (I'm talking about the launcher that looks like lipstick and goes down farther when you hold the jump button.)

So like in Pirate's Island, only with rings or score instead or time elapsed? That works kind of. Regardless, just so long as it's a proper act now instead of a terrible filler one then everyone has something to be happy about.

You know, he probably should be told about a little thing called emulation. I'm no expert, but how hard could it be to dump the dev kit and use it in an emulator? (I'm pretty sure Jun is talking about either the PC 88 or 98.)

For the eighth goddamn time, legal issues have nothing to do with the subject at hand. It's not illegal to use sounds from an old synthesizer, and it's not illegal to use the same samples found in games that he worked on that belong to SEGA anyway.

It is, however, illegal to emulate a pc-88 bios.

In his last interview, Yuji Naka had few qualms with mentioning that he'd recently emulated the SG-1000 to play Girl's Garden, and it's not the first time he's discussed emulation, either. Nobody fucking cares.

    Sega owns the SG-1000

Sega does not own the PC-88.

I don't know who owns the PC-88 but I somehow doubt they'd give a slag, or even be able to find out about it's use for such a thing.

  17. Oh, they would after realizing SEGA used their products for making money, and would surely do everything to get some of that money.

    SEGA can't risk it.

You don't think NEC, who has been making money here recently by emulating their old consoles and computers, and who fought tooth an nail to secure the PSN rights to the capcom games that appeared on the PC Engine, would mind if sega illegally used one of their most popular products of all time to make money?

    lmao ok.

Well, there's your solution! Buy an emulator. I doubt it'll break their bank.

There's a real problem with the attitude that "if the company doesn't care it's basically legal". Want to see a great example of that backfiring?
