    A quick test in Audacity showed me that the reason that the sped up songs in the Advanced series sounded like crap compared to the Genesis ones was because the Genesis only sped up the songs by 25%, whereas the Advanced series sped it up by 100%. It's not a fact of the songs sounding bad when sped up, it's a fact of DIMPS not knowing how fast to speed the songs up. :eng101:

    Edit: However, they DO get it right in Sonic 4, but they just can't figure out how to make the songs speed up DURING the song, for some reason.

    It didn't happen yet. They try to synchronise the S4 updates worldwide, so they do so at around 6 or 7pm GMT.

    Don't get your hopes up, guys.

    I saw someone on the Sega Forums say something like "Yay! We're gonna get a bunch of updates tomorrow!" And ruby said:

    "Not quite - don't take things out of context.

    Tomorrow we will be confirming some of the other new changes to the game, though. Many of you will have already noticed these, but for others, we're offering an added level of detail to show you exactly what we've been working on the last couple of months."

    Edit: More importantly-

    "I'll be posting today's list of updates during our afternoon in the US. I'll drop another line here when it's almost ready."

    There IS on thing I noticed in one particular screen shot after looking at all of them again...

    Notice how the rings are coming out. As far as I remember, Sonic 4 used to have Rush's ring dispersion method (lets put all the rings in this one spot, or SEND THEM FUCKING FLYING). But here, they seem to be scattering in more of a classic Genesis pattern. That, and he's not collecting the one he's clearly touching.

    Or is it just me?

    I don't recall... would you be able to recollect a ring the moment it pops out of you? + - Because that would mean you'd collect all your rings again the moment you got hit. :v:

    I've been playing Sonic Rush lately and I've noticed that the rings only fly EEEEEEERYWHERE when you have over 50. They also fly further if you get hurt and collect the rings again, and then get hurt again - but I think this is only in Boss Fights.

    Two outcomes in that water ring picture:

    1) the water effects ring splash gravity so they fly a little further
    2) they changed the drop so they don't just fall at sonic's feet any more

    Both would be ideal :P

    Like I said already, they have always fallen this way when you get hit with those spikes from Labyrinth. They fly outwards in a circle from the character when you hit those.

    That shot of Sonic holding the torch is delicious. I didn't buy Ken's comments about this being the next logical step in evolution from Sonic and Knuckles, but god damn it, I'm actually hopeful again.

    That new Lost Labyrinth Act 2 looks really cool. The torch and dynamite will lead to a more puzzle-based level, hopefully.
