Sega Shop Europe has closed: https://www.segashop.co.uk/ https://www.segashop.eu Yet more evidence that Sonic Pillar - in charge of Sega stuff in the West, lest we forget - gives zero fucks about places outside the US.
Sonic Pillar isn't responsible for SoE business decisions nor capable of shuttering their online store. How did you draw that conclusion? They are not responsible for SEGA stuff in the West. They're not even responsible for all of Sega's stuff in America.
Fair enough and I'll retract my finger point in that case, but Sega America running the whole show for North America and Europe certainly comes across as the impression from what's been said on social media feeds in the recent past.
None of the plastic products are disposable and some (the tote bag and the flexible part of the phone case) are, from what I can tell, recyclable.
Everything is disposable. The real issue is that it's really ironic to promote consumerism ostensibly by supporting the earth. When it comes to "reduce, reuse, recycle" so many people hyper focus on the "recycle" part and ignore the "reduce" part.
Also, there's the difference between open-loop and closed-loop recycling. Closed-loop stuff can be recycled endlessly, but a lot of plastics are only open-loop recyclable, which means they can be recycled only a set amount of time before degrading into an unrecyclable mush that eventually ends on landfills and the oceans. Which means there's no guarantee that the bottle you're putting into the recycle bin won't eventually end polluting the nature. There is an ongoing push by environmental activist groups to narrow down the recycling label to only closed-loop stuff, which after all is the original meaning and definition of recycling before the plastics industry greenwashed open-loop recycling.
https://bsky.app/profile/sonic-official.bsky.social/post/3lo266qwwuc2q I get the sinking feeling that all merch will be distributed primarily through Amazon from now on...it's been years since I stopped using it for anything other than comics (they fucked those too - what the hell kind of storefront doesn't have subscriptions???) and things I absolutely can't get anywhere else. Thankfully, this round of merch is mid so I feel no temptation.
Honestly thought you were going to post about the Tangle action figure What the fuck, she has elbow joints?!
