It's a bit flatter than you'd think from viewing it at the front, though. I bought one for my nephew when he was born - it's a cute plushie but it feels a bit like he's been run over.
Why are the eyes on the Sonic ice cream bars always so fucked up? I'm genuinely convinced they do this on purpose. (Does food count as merchandise?)
Its not on purpose. These things are manufactured cheaply to be put out for kids to eat, so corners are cut, making some of them look just hilarious. Most brand ice cream bars look like this, its not a sonic thing.
Had to dig way back into my memory centre to find this one. There are a few occasions where the eyes are in the right place and... well it looks just as odd.
While we're on the topic of food items, did anyone here ever get a taste of the legendary Sonic curry?
I never got to taste it. But I do have 2 sealed packs somewhere... I should really throw out the contents since I think the sell by date was about 1 year.
I remember when that first aired. It really threw me for a loop since it's such a specific reference and American Dad doesn't do pop culture stuff nearly as much as Family Guy.
I wouldn't call it a pop culture reference though. This same exact ice cream has been around since the 90s. Shit's old. That's like going "HOLY FUCKING SHIT" if it had been a Choco Taco or something.
That and in general Seth MacFarlane shows don't reference games much, and when they do they're always 80s games. This is like the only Sonic reference on any of his shows.
I don't remember if we ever had sonic but I remember eating a few different ones over here, i think tmnt was one of them with funny eyes.
I'd argue that's too incedental to call it an actual reference, someone searched "video game boxart" and just made legally distinct low resolution versions of whatever they found. I mean, that's literally Brave right next to it, would you call that a Brave reference?
It's old, but it's meme-like infamy on the internet is relatively recent. That's what I meant by "pop culture reference."
I’ve never seen one at all. I have however seen knock-off Sonic artwork on an Ice Cream van, I’ll have to try and dig out my photo!
