O RLY :P
hmmm...August huh...I SHOULD have this hack into decent shape by then.
I know I will be entering S1SD this year. Also, would a N64 re-texture mod count? If so,I have something I have been doing for fun that I would like to have put in.
that's an insanely unique idea, so yah.. just send me the *.v64 rom =P As long as it's sonic related it can be entered =)
I'll try to enter again this year. I won a few for last years after all. :P
I'm going for the Piano and Green Hill trophy.
I'll probably enter too, even if I don't have my hack released by then.
Stop putting your foot in your mouth Tweaker. Don't come crying to me when your lame hack has lost first place to me this year.
there were a few very close contenders last year and megamix almost tied for first place...
I'll win this time!!!
actually....to be honest, I have no chance to win against Megamix. Maybe third or fourth.
I know for sure that Megamix will definitely win first prize and a majority of the other trophies.
How do I know this? Simple. Tweaker's an admin, so if Megamix doesn't win certain trophies, he'll IP ban each respective winner.
Figures :disgust:... I will still enter, because I think I could win some trophies...who knows.
I cant wait to see how the various hacks have progressed. Will be interesting to see how Megamix Shapes up this year. I thought this would be my 1st year and entry to the hacking contest but im still way way off producing anything worth showing with Sonic: The Return
More likely than you think. :P
Power abuse alert!
Hmmm, well, now I have deadline to get something tangible out of my hack. I'm also totally going for the Shadow Trophy.
I'm sorry if this feels a bit out of nowhere, but I can't help feeling that some of the cathegories in this contest seem either quite generic ("technical hack"?) or random ("confusing", "hentai-based"), specially with all the advances and level of maturity (for the most part) this scene has earned in the last years... I really think they should be revised in order to do justice to all the effort that's being put into these mods (be it in the graphics, sound, level design or creative departments), and also to encourage more competitors against the main sure-to-win-something entries, since many people don't think they'll stand a chance against them.
For example, I'd consider adding individual cathegories for:
-Best looking level (original art).
-Best looking level (reused art).
-Best designed level layout (multiple routes).
-Best designed level layout (straight forward).
-Best original music.
-Best ported music.
-Best new object.
-Best new enemy.
-Best new playable character.
-Best new added abilities.
-Best innovative idea.
That way, even if Megamix, Advanced Edit, S1EE, etc, can win many of those, there might be one amazing enemy or beautiful level in a new mod that could win another prize... instead of just giving up and going for confusing level or WORST HACK OMGLOLZ
I will never view the hacking of sonic games as anything "mature", but I do agree with a lot of your suggestions. What has happened in past years is I've had so many trophies or what not (some of those categories used to exist in past years) that everyone winds up winning and it doesn't feel like a contest of any sort. It IS preferable however that I get more entries and the feeling that there's no way TO compete with the big hacks does probably deter trying. Give me a couple days and I'll completely revamp the trophies section.
Thankyou for the awesome suggestion!
I'll probably be entering Sonic 1: Advanced by about early, mid august.
