Because I didn't want to make my eighth consecutive post in the general topic.

In 1996 Sega created a new word: "Funteractive". Also "Funteraction". "It's fun to act with".

You know when you go to Disney theme parks and there are interactive "things"? Well turns out Sega were all over that noise for a brief period:

A giant jukebox, a strange telephone, a door that doesn't go anywhere, more things I can't be bothered to translate, a guillotine:

The work of Sega AM5 - supposedly there's a small handful of "Funteractions" left at Sega Arena Nakama.

I saw one of these. It was unplugged. I tried to enjoy the gameplay, but ultimately the Execution was off.

    I'll get me coat.

I wouldn't mind having the triggers emulated in MAME. Even if you can't experience it as intended, you could experience it in a simulation. VR emulation with whack-a-mole is bound to happen with a MAME binding someday.

I'm not sure I understand this. Are you supposed to try this and then it doesn't behead you when it looks like it is going to? Kind of like a dare your friends to partake in a not-too-cheap magic trick?

Yeah. It seems like a cheap thrill seeking ride without the fun, and more of the 17th century pirate execution simulation adrenaline then dopamine-hit as you realized it's not real type *gasp* thrill.

The sale pitch was probably 'Hey guys, I got a game that has the same rush as being in a rollercoaster, but indoors. Gentlemen, here's the guilotine!' with notable gasps and spilled coffee back at Sega HQ.

It's the same as a fortune-telling machine, electrocution machine, puppet machine... any of this kind of stuff:

Yes, it's basically a "dare" machine. The Twitter user who posted it demonstrates this - he spent hours tracking it down and then was too afraid to try it.

You can imagine a group of adolescents (possibly trying to impress female companions): "I'm brave enough to do it! Are you?!"

This is not the kind of amusement machine that you enjoy on your own.
