***Tech Demo Second Release!*** (postbugfix)

    Now if that isn't a statement that's good to hear :) I just have to say this, I feel great on this project. I haven't really contributed anything yet (due to my Wacom tablet being @ a friend, and Reason 4 not yet up and working), but I'm so excited to contribute ;)

    So in respect of the entire community, the project, and especially of how the latest Tech demo looks - I love to be on this ship, man. ;)

    Alright, so I checked 'em all through on my MacBook Pro.

    Specs:
    • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 (2.5GHz), 6MB Cache, FSB800
    • Display: 15.4" TFT
    • Resol.: 1440 x 900
    • RAM: 2x 2048MB DDR2-667
    • GPU: nVidia GeForce 8600M GT, 512MB GDDR3
    • OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
    I had to update to the latest DirectX 9 first, after that, it worked.

    Usually, it showed around 58, 59 fps without a problem. Sometimes, it dropped to around 40 fps momentarily, but I never had any real problems. Worked quite well on my notebook.

    Where can I send/post the recorded gameplay files?

    "Bugs" that occured to me:
    • Spindash which leads to a high vertical wall made Sonic seem to reach an 'unrealistic' height.
    • Spindash sound continues for too long after spindash executed.
    • I don't know if it was my PC, but the title screen seemed kinda ... I dunno, 'mashed up'. It looked like it hadn't been properly colored and seemed to have shaky outlines. Not like the screenshots or images I saw of the title screen.
    Other than that, wow, I'm impressed - it actually has the Sonic feel to it. :)

    Did you already Unlock Super forms?

    To attach the log files, they are generated into S2HD folder each time you play:

    I.E. Input Record 1X Sat Oct 04 08'15'22 2008.S2R

    No, I didn't achieve the super forms - I was unable to complete the climb stage in a decent time (with sonic) :P Gonna try with Knuckles.

    Yeah I realized that those are the files, I think I'm gonna post them tonight (they're on my notebook). It's about 7 files.

    I finally managed to play the second demo, and it was good! I think most of the time when I glanced at the FPS thing I got around 30 or 50 FPS, but there were some times where it went under, and even went down to 0 FPS.

    I just hope, with that result, A. I get a better computer, or B. They do something to make it easier on computers like mine and still have the HD-y goodness of the game.

    I found a bug in the Sonic 2 HD 2x version as sonic should die when Sonic is squeezed (shown in screenshot below), unless the "death" logic isn't implemented yet?

    I did encounter another weird bug.

    Sometimes, Knuckles while spin dashing in 3X mode, will actually pass THROUGH the ground. I know that Knuckles can have that ability, but normally that is only when the ground is "weak," not solid and strong.

    Wow! Thanks for the report!

    Please attach the log files you have in your S2HD folder, so LOst can spot what caused it.
    (It should be named with today's date)

    Thank you King InuYasha and nineko! I'll look into it directly...

    EDIT: Well, here is the scary thing. I don't see a bug! This means I got the wrong input log file (which I doubt) and in case I did, I have uploaded a video to YouTube so that King InuYasha can confirm this is the right recorded game controller input, see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDTP-1dYaC0&fmt=18

    In case it was the right recorded input, then we have a bug that appears on King InuYasha system only. Eww. I suggest more people try to recreate this bug. I tried in the 5944 Build with no success.

    It is correct, but it happens at random, which makes it hard to figure out. It happened once, and then when I attempted to do it again, it didn't happen. So, I kept doing it until I got it to happen and I hit the button to take a screenshot.

    Annoying, I can see it is the same time as your screenshot. The big question how can it happen only once? I have tried to run it with maximum frameskip, and it still works like normal. What CPU do you have? Intel Random™ :P

    Ok, here is another Knux dash bug, this time in 2X mode.

    I took the prerogative of emailing the debug file to nineko already.

    And I managed to reproduce the other Knux bug again. I went though and loaded the 3X app and I got the bug again.
