I think it's just a sarcastic joke. Although I think it would unironically be cool if she were. Edit: Ninja'd lol
I'm enjoying the current characterizations for the most part. Sonic's quips are actually entertaining, rather than lame, obnoxious and overdone like in the Pontac/Graff games and most western adaptations. Tails and Rouge also feel spot on. However, I find it silly how the Halloween episode treated Knuckles as being completely scared of ghost stories and spooky stuff. Yes, he was afraid of King Boom Boo in SA2, but he has faced ghosts and monsters without issue in many occasions. In Heroes he never cowed in Hang Castle or Mystic Mansion; in fact Tails was the one afraid of ghosts, and Knuckles had fun with him for it. I took that as him having conquered his fear of ghosts in SA2. I mean, after he defeated the big bad ghost king, why would he fear scrubs? Now all of a sudden he's more afraid than ever, and not just of ghosts but anything "spooky"? It feels like a regression and exaggeration of his character. I guess there is a rule that Knuckles isn't allowed to remain un-flanderized for long Before someone goes "You could chalk up his okayness with ghosts in Heroes to an oversight on the writers' part", nope, I don't think so, as Heroes was one of the most continuity-aware games in the series, with a myriad of references to previous games (especially in the Japanese script). In fact it even referenced Knuckles' history with ghosts - in one of his idle lines in Mystic Mansion he comments "Ghosts must really like me", showing that the Heroes writers didn't forget it. I guess Ian won't let Amy crush on Sonic or act hyper, so now her altruism and stubbornness are the only personality traits she has left. I can't say I miss her stalker tendencies, possessiveness and temper, though. But Ian's Amy feels like an overcorrection.
That felt like more of a reference to the Paramount version of Knuckles than the games. After all, in SA2 ghosts look at Knuckles and get weary. I miss Boom Amy, the sane one in a bunch of crazies who definitely isn't also crazy like all of her best friends
Okay, we're canonizing that the four great civilizations were sequential (boo, that's not in the JP Sonic Battle) and that the Ancients and Gaia followers (Gaians now? ancient humans? who knows) were the first two of them. I have no opinion on this. Also, we got humans in the series again, and a better Rouge voice than Rouge has. Anyone recognize her? I thought it was Strassman, but I was too not-annoyed to be certain, I think it must be someone else. Orbot sounds different too. Is that even Thornton? Either way, it's weird that despite being hinted at years ago and showing up in the damn movie, Torii's first proper appearance is just this random video. But I think given that we just got that timeline from JP Sonic channel and these were the first two things on it, we're probably gonna see more episodes covering other stuff from it. They're probably gonna say the Babylonians were the third civilization.
A 4 minute short that tells us nothing we didn't already know is a pretty lame way to formally introduce a character they've been teasing and hyping up for so long. I really dont understand why so many of these things are so interested in recapping past lore when literally nobody who isnt already super into sonic is watching these.
I thought the regular Gaias fights happen every millions of years, not thousands of years. Am I misremembering?
kind of an uneventful way to reveal a new character but ah well. I guess she's Professor Pickle's replacement.
