    The very same person is also doing a remake of GG Shinobi for Genesis :)

    Given the limited VRAM and colors on Genesis, he's gonna have to pull every trick in the book. DMA, highlight/shadow mode, changing palettes mid-frame and so on. Ranger-X used all of these, plus some trickery where both planes were used for the background - I believe that there was some hallway in SOTN with no vertical movement, where this technique could probably be used. I don't remember the name or location of it though.

    In any case some assets should probably be redrawn. The sprites look fine, but the backgrounds not so much. Even the original PS1 assets have some "Perlin noise" thing going on, and I'm wondering if using plain colors would look better and easier on the eyes.
