Main site is down, downloads and forums are up. Also as Tweaker's launcher link has died, it's here

  2. I downloaded it and played for a bit. I must say, that was every bit as awful, clumsy and ugly as I remembered. Definitely made me feel nostalgic in an awkward and slightly embarrassing way, though. Greenflower 2's music, especially. It's been so long since I've seen or heard any of this stuff.

I'm sure I'd have been thrilled for this release as recently as eight years ago.

Also, didn't SSNTails quit the project, like, half a decade ago? I'm confused.

    Nah, you're thinking of Sonikku.

  4. Oh, yes. That's right.

Is SSNTails still a super right-wing weirdo?

Because JTE's patching, while excellent for additional modifications, aren't real fixes. The sorting issues need to be fixed, instead of issues caused by bad sorting to be patched over.

I'm stuck at Castle Eggman. I have one life and no continues at the beginning of the whole zone.

Jesus Christ! I really hate that Deep Sea levels. SRB2 even lagged in 1-Player mode at Castle Eggman, so that I had to leave the game. 2-Player sucks aswell—if you press something on your keyboard, it happens 1-1,5 seconds later. Another thing which annoys me is that you get renamed randomly by the server when you join somewhere. I've been kicked for that because someone thought I renamed to another player's alias. Are the betatesters even betatesting? I'm disappointed.
I like the older version better, though.

Oh, I'm sorry. But I guess that random naming thing doesn't have anything to do with that.

No, the random naming is a known bug that hasn't been fixed. But your pressing uber-lag is an issue that has a workaround.

Disregard this. I just made a map where literally hundreds of sectors are being rendered at the same time... and no lag. At all. Also lots of translucent objects (torches) Can somebody tell me what the hell is up with CEz for it to lag so much? o_O

Well, after playing around with SRB2 2.0's Tunes command in the console, I think that I found a few tunes that were not used in SRB2 2.0.

Here are some of the tunes that I found with the tunes command in the console of SRB2 2.0:

Track 6 - GreenFlower Zone Act 2 Remix
Track 9 - The original version of Deep Sea Zone Act 2's theme
Track 12 - SRB2 Boss theme Remix (Castle Eggman Zone's boss theme maybe?)
Track 14 - Arid Canyon Zone Act 2
Track 15 - Unknown song with no music playing...
Track 17 - Rocky Mountain Zone Act 1 (Discontinued)
Track 20 - Some unknown song
Track 21 - Doom Ship Zone Act 1 (Discontinued)
Track 24 - Another unknown song
Track 25 - Yet another unknown song
Track 28 - SRB2's original Final Boss Theme
Track 87 - The original version of Egg Rock Zone Act 1's theme
Track 88 - The original version of Arid Canyon Zone Act 1's theme
Track 89 - The original version of Arid Canyon Zone Act 2's theme
Track 94 - Zero Ring Zone's theme (Discontinued)
Track 98 - The original version of Aerial Garden Zone Act 1's theme (From 1.08, Discontinued)
Track 99 - The original version of Deep Sea Zone Act 1's theme

If there are any unused tracks that I am missing, tell me right away.

There is music playing, but it takes some time to get sound to reach an audible level.

Also I noticed that there are lots of textures that are definitely not used in the game at all nor seem like they'll be used in any future levels, and were added in this version. Looks like all those textures were added for those that want to make custom levels. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same deal with music. Also the SFXs - I mean, why the hell are almost all of the S3K sound effects in the sound test? o_O

EDIT: does anybody know how to get custom textures in? Morph is having trouble with that D:

All the extra stuff is exactly what you suspect it is. Unused stuff that we're not going to use but would be nice for editors to have.

I get like, no lag in Castle Eggman (aside from an issue that happened in the last room of act 2, but that only happened once, and I can't replicate it). Don't know what the deal is, my laptop's hardly state of the art.

Anyways, I managed to beat the game as Sonic (beating 1P gives you level select). The boss at Egg Rock was a real tough nut to crack. Went back and got all the emeralds I was missing.

All in all, I'm very impressed with how much effort has gone into the game. Looking forward to what the future holds in store.

Am I missing that the PSP version is cancelled? If so, then this is a disappointment. It would be awesome to play it mobile or online via Ah-Hoc/Infrastructure.

The PSP port was never official, anyway. That being said, I have no idea if it's cancelled or not. I don't think it is, since (IIRC) the person working on it has access to the SVN repository... I think...

But, IIRC, many people on the messageboard of srb2.org said, that it'll never be released, since there's no team and no one who could use homebrew on PSP. Still, I don't want to give my hopes up.

Many people on the SRB2MB also say that Sonic 2K6 is one of the best games of all time. Your point? :P

Trust me, Alam's crazy enough to go about doing it regardless of whether or not he has any guinea pigs. (And as soon as somebody makes a HEN or downgrader for that MOHH 5.51 exploit, I might as well join the club...)
