Are you playing on Linux using Proton? I heard someone had the same issue on it.

While I am avoiding spoilers on the boss fight against Black Doom I was willing to actually listen to the music and...
Holy shit, this is definitely my favorite version of All Hail Shadow.

I think I still prefer the original by a little, but it's still a fantastic rendition.

I never really cared for Crush 40's '06 version, though.

Trying to do the S ranks now (and seemingly you do each stage twice, with or without wings) which was all fine until Radical Highway. Oh my god that stage is unforgiving. Must be some mad shortcuts I need to figure out. Honestly really challenging.

Anyone else disappointed that the last level is Radical Highway though? It's a good level, but we already got it in Generations 3DS and repeatedly within ShGens as the Doom Zone or whatever it's called. You go there for large portions of Space Colony, Rail Canyon and Sunset Heights, followed by two full 3D acts at the end of the game. It was a missed opportunity for Shadow 05 rep, particularly for a level like Black Comet/Final Haunt.

Yes, but only on time. Regular stages have a full score-based ranking system. Challenge stages also have collectables, apart from the hard mode versions unlocked near the end of the game.

I can see why they used Radical Highway, but it is definitely disappointing when there definitely should've been some sort of ShTH level representation. Pointing out that 3DS used it though is kind of a moot point though, seeing as that wasn't part of the collection. Although I intend to rectify that fact, so I'm picking up Sonic Gens modding. But with how much Radical Highway showed up in Shadow Gens it has me kind of worried that Sonic Team's going to end up using it as the Shadow equivalent of Green Hill...

For what it's worth, I thought that Radical Highway, and Biolizard for that matter, were bad choices for Gens 3DS all the way back in 2011. They had nothing to do with Sonic himself, whereas there were other potential choices that did (much like Chaos Island now, although at least it's a flash-forward this time). Tree fact that both of these levels are already in Generations 3DS is just an extra compounding factor. The main issue is that there's already so much Radical Highway in Shadow Generations. It's overdone in this one game.

I also don't understand why Black Doom is so obsessed with it. It's definitely Shadow's Green Hill, all reasoning de damned.

Lol, I mean from the perspective of it being the first choice for references.

I do kinda like though that we start with the ark, the final level for shadow of SA2, and we end with Radical Highway, the first. I am disappointed though that black dooms choice of final level isnt the black comet and is instead a warped radical highway, but they do enough cool stuff with it that I dont personally mind it

So I completed the game last night, and... does anyone else think the story was a bit lax in Shadow Generations? And I feel like it could've been integrated more into Sonic Generations' plot, even if the latter is near non-existent.

Black Doom's entire plot just kind of hinges on Shadow getting angry and using that to hijack his mind. I feel like it should've been Shadow's Doom Powers slowly corrupting him, then have Phase One final boss be Doom Shadow: Shadow rejects the powers after realising Black Doom's intent, and as you fight Shadow takes back and truly claims the powers as his own, as Shadow Powers.

Plus, the Time Eater appearing in space outside the ARK seems kind of... strange to me. I get it's a time being, so can pop around, but it feels like it attacked Shadow first? I thought that was going to be a plot element, but it's just quietly ignored.

Personally, I'd have it that it did attack Shadow first, and part of the mystery is why. Then when we get to Mephiles, Black Doom interferes at the end and gives Mephiles a body: Mephiles inhabiting a Black Arms body to exist in the timeline creates the Time Eater, who then goes to attack Shadow on the ARK and creates a sustained loop.

After the attack, Robotnik happens upon the Time Eater after Sonic Colours and hijacks him: Black Doom doesn't care, the Time Eater's purpose is done and Sonic Generations is not affecting his plans, Robotnik can have him.

But that's just me. The game itself is great and I look forward to the next game.

  16. I feel like it was supposed to be Westopolis...

But aesthetically there's just a lot more to Radical Highway. It would've been cool if they did the stage morph with more stages that Shadow's actually associated with and then ended with Radical Highway.

I'm mixed on Radical Highway... I feel like it was a missed opportunity for another level location, but also it almost feels like the Doom Zones in the other levels are "teasing" Radical Highway, and then when you actually see Shadow grinding on the Golden Gate Bridge with an orange blimp in the background, it's the "payoff".

It's almost like the game is faking you out until the very end where it gives you the whole thing, if that makes sense. And it marries that payoff with the Doom Wing to maximize catharsis.

Radical Highway being the final stage IS a "missed opportunity" for another level, but they kinda missed that opportunity in the best way possible?

I'm...trying...to play the Sonic Generations half right now but I'm having trouble.

Has sonic ALWAYS been this fast and finicky? I forgot that I used a mod with double jump instead of the momentum killing homing attack thing a LONG time ago and that helped me make more accurate jumps and in general made the game smoother.

The small differences in control between this and Frontiers or even Shadow Generations are messing with my head.

The level design is still great but I'm having trouble with these levels I haven't had in years. Just wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience.

I was thinking about it some more and I'm going to presume that the reason Shadow the Hedgehog: The Official Video Game of the Character doesn't have any stage in this game is due to Westopolis being planned but ultimately revamped into the movie stage that's coming out in a few months. I'm sure when we actually get to sit down and play it there will be some layout similarities to it, but it'll have a coat of paint to match the movie more than the old game.

Also, I do not care for the doom morph

I mean, the trailer for the DLC level did use the Westopolis theme...
