Isn’t there a preorder DLC level from Shadow’s game? Sky Troops or something?

No, there's a DLC level based off movie 3 coming out in December.

And I believe I heard Shadow's also gonna have a skin of his movie design that also has the voice.

  4. Where else would he get all that energy to run so much.

Still avoiding Shadow Generations spoilers, but on flicking through the redubbed Sonic Generations cutscenes again, I noticed the new version has corrected Cream's eyelid colour. Her eyelids in Sonic Advance 2 were the same cream colour as her main fur, but from Sonic X onwards (when Sonic and other characters' eyelids changed to their fur colour) they swapped to the same orange as the markings around her eyes... except in the OG Generations, which mistakenly reverted them to their Sonic Advance 2 colouring. And yes, I'll be crossposting this in the eyelid colour thread once the game is actually out, haha!

Also, speaking of Cream, one of her rescue lines mistakenly shows the original Pontac/Graff line in the subtitles in the new version...! It's even been correctly reformatted to match the other new lines, displaying the name of the character speaking, so it's not just a straight leftover either. Nice to hear her calling Sonic "Mr. Sonic" like the older games in the rewrite though; as someone who'd played those earlier games, her just calling him "Sonic" in Generations always sounded strange to me.

Finally, weirdly enough Eggman's crazy laugh in the pre-final boss cutscene is still the original take - either they didn't bother re-recording it, or they did but decided the original take was better. And you know what? It fits in fine in amongst all the surrounding re-records! Makes you wonder why they didn't keep the original takes on some or all of the other lines that didn't change, at least for characters who still have the same voice actor as they did in 2011.

Have to wonder how much Sega shelled out for Keanu's voice, considering they allegedly pay the game actors peanuts and Keanu's salary for Sonic 3 is rumored to be a cool $5 million.

For those who want to compare all the cutscene changes, someone has uploaded a full compilation of the old and new versions.

I played for a few minutes, here are some ramblings if anyone is interested.

+ - The new assets look really good, it almost makes me wonder why they didn't spend this time on Frontiers.

+ - I think the Shadow portion plays like an improved version of Frontiers.

+ - The CG and even in-game cutscenes look really good.

+ - It seems a lot of effort was put into the Shadow abilities, although many also feel gimmicky.

+ - The new hub world is what I hoped the Generations one would be in 2011, even if it feels a little out of place with the rest of the game.

+ - My biggest complaint is the narrative, I can't help but feel like a game centering around Shadow's past has a lot of wasted potential.

+ - I also still can't get over Kirk Thornton's performance and Shadow's new characterization.

    + - Shadow in 2D feels wrong.

I played the Switch version using emulation, I'm still waiting for my copy to unlock at release time. I honestly think $49.99 is a bit too much for a re-release of the game with a bonus campaign when the Steam and Xbox versions were so accessible.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was part of the deal for him to work on Sonic movie 3. This is definitely cross promotion done with Paramount and I bet doing a few grunts and sound clips for this movie dlc was apart of his contract for movie 3.

After seeing the full level list, the fact SA2 got two levels and StH got zero is quite funny in a game that's about Shadow.

And one level from a game where Shadow doesn't even appear.

If we complain loud enough, I'm sure SEGA will add those levels into the next Shadow game we're now guaranteed to get.

I think Digital Circuit has a cool theme.

Instead of Chaos Island I would have liked to see Sky Troops, Digital Circuit, or Circus Park.

I get trying to get more recent representation in the game by adding a Forces/Frontiers level, but Chaos Island just seems random for Shadow. I guess I'll see how the game justifies it, but would've preferred something linked to him instead.

And even if they really didn't want to go with a ShTH level for whatever reason, they could've at the very least replaced Chaos Island with a level from Sonic Colors, whose DS version Shadow does appear in.

Then again, maybe Sega deemed Sonic Colors assets too low-res to be reused on a game releasing on Series X and PS5.

Just wait for Sonic X Shadow Frontiers next year. It'll all make sense.

They gave us Chaos Island and Sunset Heights because their HE2 assets would make it easier to add levels.

Without them, we likely would only have 4 levels, maybe 5. The game does a lot for what is advertised but it's not made as a full Sonic game.

Yeah, this game still gives the vibe of being largely experimental. I wouldn't be surprised if SEGA's right now paying attention to which parts are popular with audiences, and which parts are a dud.

If enough people praise the Doom Powers, we might see them return the same way Wisps did.
