If they wanted to show a nightmare to sonic fans they shouldve had shadow teleport to green hill zone

The emulator ive got for it has been very prone to crashing so ive only played through to the first boss of shadow gens but honestly i quite like it so far. Not the best stages ive played from a boost game but honestly not that far behind generations. They do some interesting things now and then so I can appreciate them, though you can really feel some of the frontiers dna in it at times.

If you have the computer that can handle this sort of emulation, and are using the emulator that can use these settings. Set CPU and GPU accuracy to high or “accurate”. This won’t fix all crashing but will let you get further before it does.

So, Mephiles wants to live again, and Shadow doesn’t recognize him.

It’s kinda like our relationship with 06, but we pretend it never happened.

anyway, I like that. Clearly, 06 happened, it still exists in its own bubble, so maybe Mephiles can someday return.

I really loved what they did with Chaos Island in this game. They somehow made it look more visually appealing in this game. And it's probably one of best stages of the game, to be honest.

  8. I'm not seeing anyone confirm a specific level list so far in this thread, but at least for shadow I'm guessing at...

    Ark
    Rail canyon
    Sunset hill
    Chaos island
    Kingdom valley
    Radical highway?

    And boss's...
    Mephiles
    Metal sonic

Anyone able to give a definitive list?

Full list is as follows, in order:

    Stages:
    Space Colony ARK
    Rail Canyon
    Kingdom Valley
    Sunset Heights
    Chaos Island
    Radical Highway

    Bosses:
    Biolizard
    Metal Overlord
    Mephiles
    Devil Doom/Neo Devil Doom

Still waiting on confirmation of this. None of the footage I've seen has showed Sonic talking to any of the NPCs outside of when they're initially rescued.

This is only true short term. To access the third boss you have to have completed every challenge act, including any you didn't do for earlier zones.

as far as the aesthetics, that light just be more level geometry combined with it not being as open but kind of blocked off on all sides making it feel less empty.

I will say that on the whole I’m still not overly impressed by this game’s level design. However, based on what I have seen, it does look fun enough that I actually might consider buying.

I was going to say that this was not one of the levels that made me consider that, but towards the end of the level I was like, “Wait what? Is that actual 3D platforming? Alright then!”

Also, the momentum slider in the options. Does that just prevent you from immediately coming to a stop when you go neutral on the stick? Or is that also prevent you from immediately coming to a stop when you pull back and hold in the opposite direction of what you’re traveling?

Like, if I get up to speed and hold back, will it make Shadow stop immediately or just stop faster than if I just went neutral?

Also, does he actually have monentum in the air as well?

These things aren’t deal breakers to me, but I do have my preferences. (Obligatory SRB2 is the best 3D Sonic game)

It's a bummer they didn't include a level from Shadow the Hedgehog. I think something like Digital Circuit would've been a nice change of scenery. I suppose it was easier to just lift crap from Forces and Frontiers though.

    Also…

something odd I have noticed. Could be wrong. Again don’t have the game myself. But about these alternate paths…

It’s kind of weird to me. Because in some cases, I find myself questioning the point of them. There are moments I look at them and I’m like, “um… is that… acrually faster?” Because usually the more active and engaging path is supposed to be the faster one right? But it seems to me sometimes that the stuff you’re doing to get on the other paths is not actually making you go faster but in some cases actually slowing you down, making you not go straight forward.

maybe it will be some rings or something. Which I guess are good if you need a boost refill but uh..

    Am I crazy?

from limited testing yeah it determines how quickly he stops when you let go of the stick and seemingly not much else, holding back will still skid, and it feels like the higher the value the faster the skid but its kinda hard to tell since even with the settings changes shadow gens is super choppy for me.

Also, jumping carries some momentum, but not all, and if you arent boosting you will slowly decelerate too, but its not massively. Its similar to modern sonic in base gens but feels a bit floatier if that makes sense, not as heavy as sonic is

So The jump carries some momentum? So you do need to pull back a bit to not overshoot and stuff? If that is what you’re saying, that’s cool.

also. Is the homing attack cancel with the air boost still in the game from Frontiers?

…yeah, if they weren’t going to change the animation, this is a case where they really should have left the original dialogue alone. Lol

Well, from the few times I can find it in action, the Drop Dash doesn't seem to be as broken as the spamdash, but...yeah. Everything from the above down to a T from what I've seen. Not really mad or upset because this was a foregone conclusion to everybody, but it (still) just feels like a "...why even bother" decision to go in and only do that one thing. Wouldn't be surprised if there is an executive mandate that any MD Sonic project published after Mania (new game or non-emulation re-release) *has* to have the Drop Dash, so they literally could not just leave C. Sonic entirely untouched.

Apparently I completely missed M. Sonic being given the Drop Dash as well as C. Sonic. Cool I guess, but having it implemented as a tertiary mechanic to the jump (Spin Jump > Jump Dash > Drop Dash) seems rather unintuitive. Baffled that was what they decided on as the best way they decided to implement it. IMO it should had been mapped to the shoulder buttons (either L1R1/LR/LBRB or L2R2/XLXR/LTRT), the Quick Step and Drift are both ground mechanics that can't be used in mid-air. Or given that the Drop Dash is incorporated as a skill ability (rather than a new addition to the core moveset), it could had also served as a replacement mechanic for the Stomp.

It's not there anymore. Probably because when shadow attacks enemies he teleports using chaos control, and it would mean you could only homing dash when attacking springs or balloons which would feel inconsistent
