Here's the cutscenes changes from OG Generations. The only ones aren't there are the where Sonic save the characters, etc.

...meh, they're fine. There's some stuff here and there doesn't make sense and surely some of the change wasn't necessary, but they're OK really, they don't ruin the game, for me. So I still think some of the reaction for the changes were still strong (especially all of us saw it without context), but I get why some people didn't liked it tho'. I liked some changes, didn't liked others and I'm indifferent with most of the rest. That's it.

The actual good stuff are in Shadow Generations.

It's so insignificant that I have to ask why they even bothered.

Yeah, that sentence is a blatant reference to "Please Save My Earth" which Maekawa is a huge fan of. :eng101:

But since western audiences are mostly unfamiliar with that work, the English localization changed the line and inadvertently made it seem that Maria lived all her life on the ARK.

Nothing as bad as Modern Sonic's reaction when Amy is saved at least. I see they reanimated other Amy stuff, if you're going to change at least keep it consistent.

And the most important and notable stuff was kept in one way or another anyway.

For me i'm glad it cuts more wind to those who insist of treating the classic selvs as separate entities from the modern ones.

Even if no aproach was done right, I pick stronger continuity over fragmentation of canon.

OK, I caved and skimmed through the changes to Sonic Generations' cutscenes, and though most of the changes are neither here nor there, the one thing I really do appreciate is that they reanimated some of the post-Death Egg Robot scene so that we actually see Classic Eggman getting snatched by the Time Eater. In the original he was just a voice-over in that scene for some reason, which made it seem (on first play through at least) like they just cheaped out on that particular scene.

I think it was intentional, to hide him until the ending.

In the early fotage of the 3DS version, the Big Arms, the same boss counterpart (which amusigly used the Doomsday theme before they fixed it) it was clear it was Classic Eggman that was piloting it, in the retail version he's blackouted.

I guess since it's no longer a surprise they wanted to make more clear what's happening. Back then, most people understood it was the moment Modern recruited his past counterpart, but not everyone got it at first.

There's nothing more lovely than hearing the exact same dialogue but with different delivery.
It's almost as magnificent as new dialogue not syncing up to the animation.

That kind of felt like watching a fandub done by the official cast

Sorta reminds me of how they redubbed some of the Thief 1 cutscenes in the Gold rerelease. While the original delivery was more low key, it kinda fit. Sounds more boisterous and confident and more like his Thief 2 delivery. Granted, some of the mission objectives were extended, but why dub over an entire cutscene when all you had to do was rerecord a couple of lines? At least they didn’t have to mess with any lip sync.

Sorry that was sort of off topic. Point is, why redub stuff in reissues when it was fine already?

The rewrite doesn't change every single line. Some of them are identical to the original. But there are new lines, so there has to be a voice actor to dub them. It would sound horrible if Knuckles switched between Travis Willingham and Dave B. Mitchell every other line, since their performances are different. So Dave would have to dub the old lines over as well. It also means that they do work appropriate to what they're paid for than if they were really brought back to say ONE line and nothing else (and Sonic Generations already doesn't have a lot of dialogue).

  11. I think this is the first time they went and redubbed all of the dialogue. I actually wasn't expecting that.

The execution leaves a lot to be desired, but that's far more effort than I was expecting from them when they could have just left it all alone.

Sonic Team really just can't help themselves when it comes to forced padding, can they? This isn't even it's own full game, so I doubt many would've complained about length.

You only need to be 6/8 challenges to unlock the keys to progress. There are fewer challenges in general, but they are split by Acts. So to get one key, you need to beat both of an Act's challenges.

But you can choose whichever acts or zones. But the way its designed, you do need to complete all of a zone's challenges and one of the other zone's acts.

Apparently Sonic x Shadow Generations will not be available for Steam Family Sharing.

I thought it would be better to create this topic to confirm this information.

I intended to buy the game on the Nintendo Switch but I preferred to buy it on the PC because then my friends would also be able to play the game and then I was frustrated by this news.

Can anyone confirm if it's just a bug?

Checking the credits for Shadow Generations, they basically confirm my theory that Robbie Daymond is the new Mephiles voice. The only two names in there that don't have an existing character tied to them are Ray Chase and Ben Diskin. I'm guessing one of them is Black Doom, while the other is...Omega, maybe? (I know Roger voiced him in Dark Beginnings, but I don't know who else it COULD be.) Not sure which is which due to the heavy filtration, unfortunately.

Welcome to Sonic the Hedgehog. It took us 32 years to find out which level artists did which levels for one of the biggest sequels in video game history.

Eh, both actors are pretty active on social media. If they don't announce who they're playing themselves, I'm sure they'd answer if someone asked. (Albeit probably not until Friday, since they're presumably under NDA until launch.)

Unrelated, but "Without You" doesn't seem to be anywhere in game; here's hoping they're saving it for a single or soundtrack release.

The usage of Radical Highway as some sort of nightmare hellscape is really funny to me. Like, Doom's giant orb thing is here to unleash hell and all it does is just summon floating bits of Radical Highway for you to platform through.
