Spoiler-free Sonic Mania discussion thread

Yes - I am definitely holding out until I have the game in hand before watching.

Also just as a double heads up for everyone - I know this is probably stating the obvious and you're probably all like "well yeah duh u fukken nob", but is it alright if we keep any discussion about the details of the Intro under wraps in this thread as well?

I know technically Sega themselves have released it early so it shouldn't be counted under the current 'leaks', but I think a lot of us are still considering it part of the experience of turning on the game for the first time.

I hope I don't sound like too much of a paranoid prick but... wait... no, that's exactly how I feel right now. I just know I'm gonna have nightmares of once-friendly neighbours running at me with smartphones full of Zone lists and Ending cinematics! WAKE ME UP INSIDE

 

Let's be fair. Whoever was in charge of not spoiling the game prior release did a great job. Just a week prior release we had no idea of what levels and Story of Mania are going to be.
I could safely go into a blackout a couple of days ago and now there are only 4 days till release.
Sure it sucks that I see spoilery Mania thumbnails in my Youtube feed but I can live with that.

 

I love that remix.

I'd like to see another take though, one that keeps the synth funkiness and elastic FM bassline of the original!

 

Are you talking about an old remix of his or is this a Mania track I somehow haven't heard of?

It sure would be refreshing to see a newer take on it in Mania, but I'm gonna stay faaaaaaar away from that stage list until the game's release.
I'm logged out of YT, steering clear of Reddit, actually this is probably the only place on the internet I'm gonna be until the 15th, other than that official livestream today.

 

I read on here last night, sorry I forget who said, that it was a riot over in "Spoiler thread". I'm just wondering if anyone knows if this is regarding a controversy, or something like that, without giving any specific details?

Because I swear to god that if Sega made Mania tie into Forces I am going to blow my fucking brains out, metaphorically speaking...

Thank god I won't be seeing the video until I get back from work in about 2 hours from now. Can someone confirm if any spoilers do show up?
I wouldn't put it past them to show clips from the Opening cutscene now it's out the bag, for example - if that even gets discussed in the announcement!

 

I was listening to the opening animation through Hyper Potions' YouTube video and the related videos spoiled a boss fight. Not the end of the world and I would have figured that that boss was in the game, but seriously, nowhere is safe.

 

It wouldn't make much difference to me, either way someone is gonna have an awful mess on their hands...

 

I don't think it would be a bad thing if the game tied into Forces. If anything, it means that the events of this game would affect Forces, making Forces more appealing.

And Forces Eggman did mention an "alternate dimension" that Classic came from, and considering Classic Sonic has the drop-dash, it could confirm that the "classic dimension" is different from the modern one, allowing for everyone to have a super-form again.

I was more specifically referring to stage tropes. We've known about the Combine Ring, but I'd love to see one of the weird stage tropes come back for Mania!
