So OCR just dropped this. Thought I'd give it a signal boost among the most passionate of Sonic fans haha. I was able to be a small part of it (Coral Caves with Jorito and Joshua Taipale, 0:55 in the trailer haha)

The music in the series honestly is one of the best features to me. It's what made me start making music so I have a lot of sentimental value to it, it's nice to see a Sonic remix album tribute to songs across so many of the games. :') Happy birthday blue blur, you've been an important part of my life. :)

Some tracks are really good, the musical taste of some remixers in that feels really dated (2000-ish), though.

Unrelated question but where did that footage of S3K FBZ boss in LBZ come from?

Gave a quick listen. Not quite excited this time. Too many generic boring just-swap-a-few-instruments stuff. Maybe I was expecting too much from just an anniversary compilation?

Last time when Temporal Duality came out there was quite a little backlash here (my thread, no less), but it really blew the minds out with lots of creative and liberal takes. Schizophrenic, WhACKASS WORKShIFTS, anyone?

Also the "popular" tunes get too much attention as usual. I was really hoping the next "dedicated, serious" sOniCR albums would have 3D, R, or the Advance series and such, so the very underrepresented good songs in these games would have a chance to shine.

Edit: @Overlord Sorry I never meant to. I swear I just wanted to paste plain text but this rich text editor seemed to have it screwed up somehow.

  6. Is it like most OCRemix albums where like 75-80% of it is electronic/techno?

    I miss Project Chaos. :v

This is not a problem exclusive to OCR but I wish everytime someone made their own vocal version of Green Hill they would've instead made a cover of "Marry Me" by Dreams Come True instead.

The most fascinating thing about this is seeing the Hydrocity background change from act 1 to act 2. It's quite amazing that this is how it actually happens! It's usually cleverly hidden by another background layer/other action between acts but it was uncovered here. In the case of the actual zone, the "flushing down" transition into act 2 hides the BG snapping to the new one! My mind is blown!

No it doesn't, because the bricks on the boss arena and on the start of Act 2 are on the FG layer so you don't really see the new BG until the crushing-wall section ends XD.

(But it is the case with Angel Island's fire!)

  10. It's really great to see a bunch of totally new artists here, but I have to agree with this - many of these tracks feel like they could've been released in 2004.

Had no idea this was in the works! OC Remix albums always excite me, and I know a lotta work goes into them. But... man, I was kinda hoping this one would blow my face off, and the tracks I've listened to have been quite mellow. Which isn't bad! Just not what I was expecting/hoping for.
