    Alright, thanks for that. It crashes for me as well, so I hope this is an easy fix. I look forward to actually getting to test it out.

    Thanks for your logs, they've helped me ascertain that it's very definitely an issue with the Win32 message loop code between the menu and the game window, of all things. I'll see if I can fix it and get a new build out but not having this problem on any of the three computers I have here makes it rather difficult to squash. :ohdear:

    A couple purely gameplay issues:

    1: It seems to me like the jump strength is way too high. It's not as noticable in the spiral test or the first level, but in the level 4 test thing, when trying to do the jumping across the tube to avoid bombs, it always seems to happen too abruptly and puts you too high on the other side.

    2: Might be related to the first, but one of the tricks that I always liked to do in the original game is when you run on the ceiling and jump, it almost always puts you exactly in the center of the tube on the bottom. I used this a lot for centering myself for long stings. It doesn't work in the demo so far.

    Both of these are taste, I realize, but it would be nice if the physics were as close to the original as possible.

    I wonder if there is an issue with nvidia graphics cards. On my XP laptop where the test demo worked perfectly is an ATi. But on my XPS M1210, MaximusDM and Canned Karma PC's. We have nvidia. I'm not a coder. But could there be a possibility of an issue like that?

    My other box is an Nvidia and is fine. I've been working with a friend who I found had the same issues to see what the problem is and this latest build remedied it. Let me know if it works for you.

    Works fine on my XPS laptop just fine now. Nice one for the quick fix.

    Great :) I hope it works for everyone, and if so here's the same build but with game loop logging disabled so that it doesn't generate massive log files during play.

    Alright, that one works. I'm just going to say what several others have and tell you that the jump seems a bit strong, but I think the left and right movement is way too slow. I like to just spam running around the entire thing sometimes and it goes quickly, but in this it feels really sluggish. I gotta go do a few things right now so I'll mess with it more soon.

    Thanks, all feedback is useful and welcome. steveswede, to save me doing lots of frequent builds with tiny changes, I'll take all suggestions on board and then put them into one later build, putting them into options (like the current 1-3 lineup) so people can choose between them and see how they look.

    Just a continous blue window with nothing else? Did you make sure to preserve the directory structure from the zip I.e the .exe and the /data folder in the same dir? If the data folder isn't found it won't be able to load any resources, hence the blank screen. Send me the log, anyways.

    Alright, I tested out the editor and I seem to be able to get everything working except for adding rings and mines.

    EDIT: Oh, and is Tails supposed to always move in front of you when you jump if someone isn't controlling him?

    Adding rings and mines won't work on special pieces: the long run-up to the start of the level, the checkpoint pieces (defined as both the piece with the glowing blobs and the piece after), and the final stretch. Switch to edit on a piece that already has mines and rings on it and see if that works.

    Edit: when either character jumps, both characters switch regardless of where they are. If you hit a mine, you get sent to the back, unless you're at the back already. I thought that was what always happens..? Obviously with no AI to move Tails, Tails isn't jumping, hence the switch. With AI present, both characters will jump and Sonic will stay at the front.

    Just tried that out and it doesn't look like I can. I assume the cursor changes into a ring or a mine, right?

    The edit pointer stays a circle for the time being. test-object, PM me the s2tube_log.txt file it generates once you've run it.

    Neeeeevermind, it works now :p
    Don't mind the moron.

    As stated before, the jump is too high, but also the falling comes to a stop a bit abrupt. You should always get pulled towards the middle part of the pipe a little.

    EDIT: Kinda interesting information here. I am playing this Special Stage at full speed in 720p, while recording the screen (as seen in the video). Just shows an indication on what kind of PC you will need for 1080p at 60fps for the main Sonic 2 HD game. My computer was worth about $648 in 2008, so it is all about what hardware you choose.
