    Kula Diamond? Really?

Yeah, Kula Diamond will be in this hack, but as a boss at the moment. But in the near future, I will make Kula an unlockable character.

As for her as a boss, I will code some sort of fighting system (Ala The King of Fighters 2000). So, when you encounter her at the end of GFZ3, the HUD will change to the HUD used in most fighting games.

Do you have some sprite sheets of her to do us a favor?

I have a Sprite Sheet of Kula from KOF 2001, and what kind of favor is it?

Oh, and a new video is done:

Wow, that looks really amazing. But what is the track used in EHZ 2?

The track used in EHZ 2 is the theme of the boss of Stage 2 of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.

And thanks, I've been working on a couple of new things for the third release.

Sorry for the Double post and two month bump, but I want to post a new video and some new information.

First of all, a new video showcasing Aquatic Ruin Zone Act 1 is done, it's a preview of ARZ1, but with a new layout and music courtesy of Journey to Silius (I converted the MIDI to an XM file with MID2XM, and I made the SMPS rendition with XM4SMPS), but the music goes off-sync at some parts of the video.

Second of all, I am holding a private beta test for Sonic Zeta Overdrive Release 3, you can PM me for more details, I am going have a select amount of people for the beta testing period (May 31, 2009 - June 30, 2009, if there are any problems with the date that the beta will end, I might change it).

And last but not least, Bean will hopefully be in Release 3, but there's one problem, I can't sprite that good, so If there are any good/decent spriters, that will be great, and Kula Diamond's sprites will be based on her sprites from KOF 2000, but with an outfit similar to Eggman's, as she works for Eggman in my hack, while she once worked for NESTS in KOF 2001.

That's all, I hope that you enjoy the new video.

Why does that track sound familiar? But hey good work so far.

Does being a beta tester require any prior knowledge of hacking? Rather, I barely know much. But bug reports and stuff are my thing.

You don't need any hacking experience to be a beta tester, but reporting bugs can be a great thing.

    A few quirks...

    * At 0:20 video time, I'd say to make that wall beside the loop have a solid ledge atop it, perhaps with an item box or a few rings. It looks a bit funky just ending there, and anybody who walks atop the loop will end up passing right through it. Not two seconds later, when you hit the pressure (diving-board) spring to bounce up to the checkpoint, you might patch up the wall you slightly phase through with a vertical invisible barrier (74 0A 00 -- toy around with its position since it doesn't align itself vertically symmetrically around its position in SonED2) so that nobody gets killed by the bottom screen boundary below, especially considering that the pressure spring is a bit iffy about sending you to the same height consistently.

    * At 0:28 video time, unless you've altered the solidity on the "wall" that yellow spring is attached to, you might walk atop the spring and right through the wall. A 74 00 00 invisible object should be more than enough to patch that.

    * At 0:41 video time, you spindash on a lower route that sees you passing by four columns, only the middle two of which you should be passing behind, yet you pass behind all of them. Perhaps you could set path swappers to change planes where appropriate.

    * The layout where the end level sign is might cause you to get stuck if you step into the water before the game takes control of Sonic.

That all said, the layout actually looks quite fun, and I'd love to play it when it's released. The music and the palette set a different mood for Aquatic Ruin than I've ever seen done before.

In case if you were wondering, I have two old images that I still have from my ImageShack account (Both are from an very, very old build, dated April 12, 2008):

For some reason, as I started scrolling down on that image I though it was underwater >_>

And if they're both from the same build, how come the HUD is different? :P Anyways, they both look alright to me.

    The New EHZ Act 1!

Well, I finally got to work on EHZ1 again, revamping the layout, and you may see that there's not as many death pits as there used to be, and EHZ is now know as Quartz Valley, you will also notice that I didn't have time to change EHZ's name in the Title Card.

And I will also do a Special ReRelease of Release 2 for SAGE, it will be known as Sonic Zeta Overdrive: SAGE Edition, this release will feature some of the features that will be in Release 3, but it will lack most of the features that will be in Release 3 (Examples include: Bean as a playable character, Kula Diamond as a Boss, and the new QVZ1 Layout shown in this video).

So, enjoy the video, and I hope to see you all at SAGE and the Hacking Contest!

Looks a lot better than from what you gave me Mikel. Least there were not that many bottomless pits from the previous build. Good work

The background in QVZ looks really weird. The first body of water looks different than the second one.

    being an asshole =P
Random question: what happens if the player hits the end sign, but fails to go through the loop? Is the player doomed to stay in the loop forever? =|

I think the end sign should be after the loop =P

Here are some screenshots of Bean the Dynamite in my hack (You may notice that Sprite style for Bean is different for the Ducking and Running Sprites).

These Screenshots can show you that Bean will be in the Hacking Contest Build.
